NWA to Hawaii

Typically NWA doesn't do in-flight entertainment on domestic flights. Plus they don't have power outlets on their planes for computers, Ipods, etc.

Thats what I was afraid of - we will certainly have a very long day - flying out of Detroit to LAX and then on the HNL - oh well the excitement of a 10 day Hawaii cruise will probably do the trick.

NWA 757 has four configurations-2 strictly domestic with no movies, 1 Atlantic-definitely movies, one Pacific-definitely movies-both 5600 series planes. NWA also flies the 753 (757-300) to Hawaii and there are movies on these flights.

So if your flight ORIGINATES in LAX (and the plane returns to LAX and does NOT continue to someplace else) you chances of having movies are about 90%. However, equipment changes could put you on a 757 without movies. Bring a good book.

Be sure to bring your own food unless you plan on buying airline food (airline food is barely tolerable at best when free - I don't buy airline food).

Northwest gives nothing besides juices and soft drinks on domestic flights in economy class, even to Alaska and Hawaii. No pretzels, nothing. Small can of Pringles costs $2 (you can buy a can 2-3 times that size for $1 yourself).

It's also worth noting that NWA was recently cited as having the worst food-for-purchase from a nutritional content basis. The report said that the food that NWA sells in their snack pack is basically empty calories.

In the article I read today in USA Today, actually Southwest had the worst and NW the second worst. But if anyone buys airline food, it is their own fault.
