Rare Kinkacruiser Posted November 30, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2007 Hi all, Would anyone go as far as pre-booking a shuttle transit from the airport ? I have found a site that allows one to do that, just $12 one way. Never having been to Sydney, where do you locate the shuttle buses/vans when you arrive? Thanks, Kinkacruiser
sddsddean Posted December 1, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 1, 2007 Haven't used the shuttle, but as a guide to cab fares (if you are interested) we got a cab from the airport to our hotel in the Rocks area (just across the road from the cruise terminal) in April and that was AUS$42 for about a 20 minute trip (early Saturday morning, so no traffic). Aussie Gal Posted December 2, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 2, 2007 We always use a taxi and ask to be taken through the tunnel. Once in a hire car (limousine) we were taken on a trip through loads of suburbs. I complained but as we were paying a fixed price, it really didn't matter. We were in Sydney in August and a taxi cost us $30 to our hotel in the Rocks area. The shuttle will take you on a longer trip as it drops people off and may not stop right at your hotel, only near it. If there are two of you, a taxi is not much dearer and more convenient. Miel22 Posted December 2, 2007 #4 Share Posted December 2, 2007 Hello We have just returned from Sydney and used the shuttle from our Rocks hotel. The bus arrived on time but took an hour to get to the airport after it had picked up at various other hotels. Our driver was rather "fast" around the streets which was not particularly comfortable! My advice would be to take a taxi, if the cost is around $25-$30, as the shuttle would be $24 for the two of you. Much more comfortable and as advised in previous threads, make sure you are not taken "around the houses". We loved Sydney and our cruise around NZ and are planning a longer holiday there in the future. Monica
Rare Kinkacruiser Posted December 2, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted December 2, 2007 Thanks all for your advice. Seems the extra $$ saved on the shuttel. It would be a top option for a large group, all staying at the same hotel etc. Cheers, Anna
M&A Posted December 6, 2007 #6 Share Posted December 6, 2007 We took a taxi from the airport to the Marriot Circular Quay and it was around $25 to $30. The train is $10 each but when you have a lot of bags the taxi is the best way to go.
