WinnieinWA Posted December 7, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2007 I haven't traveled for 6 years so I'm really out of the loop as far as what and who to tip. My daughter and I will be on the transfer bus from Miami airport to the ship. I understand we are to tip the porters who take our bags. I understand the 10$ per day service charge that is automatic. I will add on to that amount for extra service for steward, waiters, etc. I guess my question is how many one dollar bills should I have for the porter, bus driver or anyone else who should be tipped? Who else will I run into that I should know about now that I should tip? I never want to be in a position where I should tip but don't have the appropriate amount. Leaving in 9 days on the Dawn. Woo Hoo!:D Thanks! :) Thanks!
Grandpaul Posted December 7, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 7, 2007 I usually give he porters a buck a bag unless my wife packs way too much into some really big bags and then I'll throw in a couple more. The bus driver, a couple. Sometimes during the cruise, if a bartender or waitress is especially nice, I'll give them a buck. I actually find that $10 a day saves me some money from what I used to tip.

salty dingo Posted December 7, 2007 #5 Share Posted December 7, 2007 I have found a bundle of 50 $1 bills is more than enough for thw two of us on a weeklong cruise. Any more and they get really hard to deal with. I once had so many at the end of the cruise, I went to the casino to donate them. I thought the blackjack dealer was going to have a fit, because he had to count out each one, the same way he would have to do for a $100. I felt sorry for a minute. Then he took all my money, and it was gone...
