Lanky Lad Posted December 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2007 Here is my video of QE2 passing Artemis, sorry the picture quality its not very high, but it's the only way I could get it to upload. Picture might not be too good, but the sound is wonderful. :D
Druke I Posted December 21, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2007 Love those whistles (horns). Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, and also makes the eyes watery.
RAL72 Posted December 21, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 21, 2007 Gotta love the sound of QE2, particularly when there's any other ship around to compare her with! Hearing those horns from my 2-deck cabin last Saturday evening, while asleep in my cabin, gave me a warm glow. And hearing them on the Clyde in September (video also on YouTube) did the same. Hope they keep her voice at least alive in Dubai...
Kindlychap Posted December 21, 2007 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2007 Hope they keep her voice at least alive in Dubai... Or I hope her voice makes it to MV Queen Elizabeth...... At least on our last trip we're well placed to hear the whistle - as well as the fog horn at night. I love hearing this as I lie in bed - wonderfully relaxing. I can't believe that in a year's time she'll be gone from us for ever. Matthew
jgsmuzzy Posted December 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted December 21, 2007 What were they saying to each other? There was a lot more than the usual 3 long blasts each. Almost like morse at the end.

Picture might not be too good, but the sound is wonderful. :D Very Nice I always like to hear the whistles - especially if they go 'off-script':D One of my sailaway favourites included an extended 'chat between ships' Karen btw you might want to edit your description if it is at all possible on YouTube This is the moment that Artemis passed QE2 in Oslo Fjord on the 9th December 2008 you seem to be sailing in the future :)

exlondoner Posted December 22, 2007 #8 Share Posted December 22, 2007 That whistle really is the most evocative sound. Thank you very much. Jane

Winchester Posted December 23, 2007 #10 Share Posted December 23, 2007 While we are all going horn.... whistle happy, I have one to contribute. After the 40th Anniversary trip I stayed over in Southampton and this is QE2 heading off to Canada. I should be adding a few more videos in the next week or so and 1 should have horn sound passing QM2 on the last night of our trip. Ho Ho HO.
