Still pinching myself (it wasn't a dream)

I've just completed my first seabourn cruise. I admit that with all the build up,I was afraid it would fall short of what I imagined it to be. Especially after reading mostly glowing reviews. I went with an open mind, but figured nothing could live up to what I thought must be inflated experiences by loyal fans of the line.

Boy was I wrong! I'm still pinching myself to ensure it wasn't a dream.

Nothing is perfect, but I'd really have to search to find fault with anything.

I'm lost at home. There is no one toopen a door, escort me to my seat, carry my plate, deliver a fresh drink or wonderful food. You get the picture!

I can't say enough about ALL the staff. What a wonderful group of people. I was going to mention a few, but really,I would feel bad leaving anyone out!

The other passengers were wonderful. We found almost everyone to be friendly.

I met Phyllis and her sisters and mother. I had the pleasure of Deborah's company on a hike through the Baths in virgin Gorda. I also met James, who's an absolute sweetheart. I watched James and his friends bouncing confidently on the banana boat. That didn't last long though! James, your hair survived the ordeal quite well!

I'm very shy,and am not good with small talk but I found everyone to have a smile and a friendly hello.

If anyone one knows Trisha from South Wales (not a cc member). Please thank her again for me. She went out of her way to include me in various activities. We won the music trivia game and I'm sporting a new seabourn umbrella as my prize.

The highlight was meeting (SIR) Cliff Richard and Daniel O'donnell. Very nice people.

They did a concert for the crew. I was informed that Cliff does this when on board as he is apperciative of their hard work.

They also sang for us on the last night of the cruise. what a treat!

Actually Cliff sang the answer to one of the music questions-summer holiday, during the contest. The crowd cheered! Then He and Daniel did a few numbers for us.

I was lucky enough to be able to sit in on part of their rehersal.

Except for missing St. Barts (a blockade by fishing boats over fuel prices),which couldn't be helped. This was a fantastic cruise!

I now understand why people say "seabourn family".

I'm so glad that you are still on Cloud 9 over your Seabourn experience. I find it very difficult to adjust to life back in reality...in fact it takes me several weeks to "get over" the fact that I'm no longer on Seabourn. It may sound silly, but it's almost a psychological problem for me *lol*... no more tea served by white gloved waiters, no more endearing stewardess cleaning my room twice a day! Let's not even talk about having to deal with my own cooking.....

I'm sorry you missed St. Bart's. I hope you'll enjoy many more cruises on Seabourn and maybe one of these days our paths will finally cross! So glad you had a wonderful time.

it really was a wonderful trip! Great meeting you as well. One thing I can say, is I always have a consistently perfect cruise on Seabourn. Looking forward to the next! (I am still sore from that Banana boat ride, but boy was it fun!...and yes, I got my hair wet!)

Denise, it was a pleasure meeting you as well. I can only add to the superlatives by saying that each cruise gets better. I was afraid that after my first Seabourn, I would become jaded. Thankfully that has not happened. Just when you think they cannot outdo themselves, then they do. This time we were upgraded to balconies and Mom had wine and cake and fancy hors d'oevres all delivered for her birthday. That is in addition of course to the caviar, and caviar, and caviar. we promised her if she is able we will take her for her 86th birthday.

Denise,

Your experience is wonderful news to Mrs. Jack and I as we are taking our first Seabourn cruise in a couple months.

I was, and still am, going with an open mind as we have cruised many other lines throughout the years and hope our trip will be as good as yours. Jack

Okay. I understand the part about needing some psych. counselling, Jane!

Some of us were joking about this on our last day. I have a background in social work and did think of offering this as a new service. There's only one problem. I've been back a week and I can't get my head (or my feet) grounded. I frequently find myself back on board wondering what I'd be doing just about now!

Johnny, there was a line up for future cruises on the last day. Incredible considering there is no real hype or announcements compared to other cruise lines.

Jack and Mrs. Jack, you will have a wonderful time. It really is how others here describe it!

My only real complaint is that the logo wear for women fits small.

I've been back a month now and am only just getting my "footing", i.e., adjusting to my ordinary day to day life. Our firm has a new service that offers three free consultations with a psychologist for any personal issues. Don't think I didn't consider picking up the phone and calling them. I just wondered if I would get pitched out of the counselor's office when I presented my "problem"....trying to adjust to my real life after disembarking a Seabourn ship.

The only cure I have found is booking another cruise and having it to look forward to!

Jane
