car rental at Port Everglades cruise terminal

We are returning on the Coral on April 15th from a 10 day Panama Canal cruise and are wondering what car rental's might be located at the terminal? We don't fly out until 5:30 in the afternoon and are thinking of driving down to Miami for a few hours. Any idea of what rentals would be close enough to walk to with a few bags of luggage after disembarking?

All the rental companies have locations just outside the port area but none in walking distance. You do not have to go to the airport. The free shuttle vans drop off/pick up at the cruise terminal. We've used Thrifty and Budget with success. Just be clear that you want the locations NEAR the port and NOT AT the airport.

There is a Budget Car Rental at Quay Plaza on 17th adjacent to the north entrance to Port Everglades. It is walkable, though that would be a bit of a pain with luggage. But, they offer a shuttle van from the port. And, they allow you to rent at the Quay Plaza location and drop off at the airport (and vice versa.)

Here's a link to the Budget page with their locations, including the one at Quay.

Happy cruising! :D

You are assuming that the CO is going to dock at pier 1 or 2. what happens if she docks at pier 25??

Hertz is the closest lot to the port.

There is a shuttle for all major companies that circulates when you disembark.

I would suggest that you reserve the car ahead of time, to take advantage of discounts, AAA,AARP, Costco, etc.

You can take all your luggage on the bus.

You can also drop off anywhere in FL at no added cost.

Correct you are. And we all know what happens when we assume. ;)

But, of our 4 cruises out of FLL in recent years, the Princess ships have always docked at the 17th St. entrance.

Regardless, I just wanted to let the OP know, as most people don't seem to know about the Budget at Quay Plaza, in the event they are at that end.
