mhproperties Posted January 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2008 Anyone been on this cruise in the past? What are the best shore excursions? How is the weather this time of year? Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.
Travelcat2 Posted January 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2008 We did the W. Carribean last April -- the weather was warm (approx. 80 degrees F) in most places. We took private shore excursions (cave tubing, snorkeling, etc.). Private tours were excellent! You did not mention if you will be on the Navigator (guess I should have checked the Regent website:-) -- if so, you may want to read the review I posted in the "Review" section for the Navigator. Have a great cruise!:)

linda_22003 Posted January 24, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2008 I'll be doing this cruise the previous week - the March 7 sailing on Navigator. We're planning the Chakanaab submarine excursion in Cozumel, and the Lamanai/Mayan ruins in Belize. We still are not sure what to do in Guatemala. mhproperties Posted January 25, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted January 25, 2008 Thanks to those that have replied. We will be on the Mariner departing Ft. Lauderdale March 14th. Any restaurant sugesstions for lunch and dinner in Ft. Lauderdale? Also, the cave tubing sounds like fun. What is travel time to and from the excursion? Wendy The Wanderer Posted January 25, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 25, 2008 We did this in December. Guatemala was our favourite port, Cozumel least favourite. Don't do the jeep or dune buggy excursion on Cozumel. We did the concierge Rio Dulce boat trip and visit to Livingston. Outstanding. But take a hat with a strap and be prepared for a windy ride. Also did a river trip up to Lamanai in Belize. Also outstanding. Also windy. But worth it, we thought, Lamanai was surprisingly big (the size of the pyramids, that is.)
