caro1998 Posted September 18, 2004 #76 Share Posted September 18, 2004 It is all how you look at things...it is not so bad if it is just a few drunken fools..my friends and I, we tend to look at the drunks as part of the entertainment. Our last cruise this summer on the Miracle, we were actually kind of disappointed that there wasn't at least one drunken fool to provide us with endless giggles. On my triumph cruise two summers ago- there was this young guy- about 25 or so- we- the collective passengers on the ship- called him "king of the ship". He was the friendliest drunk ever- and provided us with hours of amusement. For example: One night, we watched sitting outside the disco on the promenade, as he tried so ambitiously to walk a straight line from the disco to the casino. Alas, he ended up stumbling and bouncing off the posts like a ping pong ball. He almost knocked a painting down off of an easel, but somehow managed to catch it, before he fell to the ground, painting in tact. We all cheered-I kid you not. This was just one of the many stories of king of the ship from that week. And whats more, he left the ship alive and well! And so did we.... Vicar Posted September 18, 2004 #77 Share Posted September 18, 2004 There are "fun" drunks who like the previous poster said are entertaining. There have been nights I have been one of those people *LOL* They are silly, but harmless. They say hi to everyone, they put on a good show on the dance floor:) and are quite a sight at Karoke *LOL* The ones I hate are the ones that have two beers and they are all over the place, either throwing up, being destructive, or else they want to fight the whole ship. Those I can do without.
sea_u_onboard Posted September 19, 2004 #78 Share Posted September 19, 2004 There was a "lady" (I use that term loosely) on our last Inspiration cruise who was COMPLETELY WASTED. She had qualified for the blackjack tournament that I was in. She was late arriving. She had the highest score so they waited on her - don't ask me why - except maybe they had seen her earlier and knew she would pitch a fit if they started without her. She was totally OBNOSIOUS - blowing smoke in peoples faces and such. She actually won the tournament - but it wasn't skill - she did draw one card - got dealt several blackjacks. She continued to be obnoxious. Later we saw her on Inspiration Boulevard dancing to the guitar and piano player - she was lifting the back of her dress - displaying her underwear - her friends were egging her on and getting quite the kick out of it. What are friends for I guess?
pholter Posted September 19, 2004 #79 Share Posted September 19, 2004 There was this guy on the Victory (Eastern in 2002) that wore a beer bong as a hat the entire cruise. He was totally wasted everytime we saw him; not that you could miss that hat anywhere! We never saw him pass out or passed out in the hallway, so we're assuming he probably slept on the Lido Deck nightly. It was never a dull moment when Mr. Party was around, but was completely obnoxious and loud all the time.

And why would anyone be on the Carnival boards if they won't sail Carnival?? Just curious- no offense meant by the question....

kodiac Posted September 19, 2004 #84 Share Posted September 19, 2004 I remember when I was a kid (18 or 19 years old). My brother and I were invited to join my parents on their cruise to Cozumel. We decided to get back off the ship (even though we already had a good buzz going) and continue to drink at Carlos & Charlies and one of the local bars on the pier. I am suprised we made it back on the ship. We were so drunk everyone was watching us stumble. I would not consider this my parents fault, but ours alone. My brother & I decided to get off the ship. My brother & I decided to drink. It is our responsibility to get back on the ship. :) Boy the next day was BAD!! On top of all this, there was a hurricane out in the Gulf. Blah. Kodiac :)

vavip Posted October 17, 2004 #86 Share Posted October 17, 2004 I only saw a couple drunks on the Victory cruise last week. One guy in the casino came into the comedy show and actually got the comedian going which turned out very funny.
sgriff17 Posted October 17, 2004 #87 Share Posted October 17, 2004 You know, I've never really seen anyone that COMPLETELY wasted on a cruise before... There are times you can tell people are drunk - me one of them - but no one acting a fool and otherwise disturbing people. Maybe we're just lucky, who knows. I have seen some drunks while on excursions though! Then it's just funny and amusing!
afrayedknot Posted October 18, 2004 #88 Share Posted October 18, 2004 since when did going on a cruise constitute a "family values affair" ?
PINEVIEW01 Posted October 18, 2004 #89 Share Posted October 18, 2004 You know, I've never really seen anyone that COMPLETELY wasted on a cruise before... That may be because you go in January mostly by your sig. I only saw that behavior on the March/April cruises:)
momofmeg Posted October 18, 2004 #90 Share Posted October 18, 2004 I can't figure out how to set this up as a poll, so let's just hear your opinions. We have heard all about how children should or shouldn't be on cruises and who is responsible for their behavior, who do you think is responsible for the stumbling drunks? Is it: A) Parents of the good children B) Parents of the bad children C) Passengers with no children D) CCL E) The drunks themselves. Feel free to add any other possibilities. We took a cruise on disney Wonder that was swarming with kids. Still though there was an adult's only pool and adult's only lounges so I who have no young children (my baby is twenty and childless so far- so I am not yet a granny) I never found it to be a problem. Funny thing about that everyone's thoughts are different on that. One post at the Disney board was mad because the kid's pool and family pool were crowded and the adults only pool hardly had anyone. Ofcourse she had young children. she complained that the family and kid's pools were small. Not true-I have been on five lines and they were the biggest pools I have seen on the cruiseships I have been on. Where as the adult's only pool was like a third of the size of the other 2 pools. She seemed to think Disney should just cator to families and not to adults without children. But then I never found it to be a problem on Carnival either-but we have never taken a cruise in the summer. I have no desire to go to the caribbean then- it is hot enough at home. Now I might would do Canada then but I haven't yet. I like kids. I don't like OBNOXIOUS drunks. On the five lines I have been on I have always seen at least a few drunks but only once did I run into a hateful obnoxious drunk and this was on RCCL Sovereign of the Seas. He was in the dinning room at dinner cussing everyone out about everything. I could not understand why he was not excorted out of there. I think a cruise is what you make it-if you let things like children and other adults anoy you-yes you will be miserable-but as far as I am concerned that can happen on any line.
