Shore Excursions in St. Maarten & St. Thomas

We did the Blackbeard's Castle tour in St. Thomas and had a lot of fun. If your child is a pirate nut, then he/she will LOVE IT! We also went to Magen's Bay part of the day and lounged at the beach. Some kids saw a sea turtle there, but we didn't get to the water soon enough to see it. It's a nice beach area, and you can rent lounge chairs from the little shop there.

Our snorkel excursion to Pinel Island on St. Maarten was canceled, but we've heard that it would have been a great snorkel experience. The boat operators were on strike at the time so we didn't get to do that. We spent some time shopping on the French side in Marigot, and ate at a VERY GOOD spot there. There are a ton of little eateries in the shopping area there.

Have fun!

Check out Lord Sheffield sailing adventure in St Maarten. A big sailing boat like a pirate ship. They take you out sailing for about an hour to your destination let you swim, snorkle, feed you, whatever. We had a great time with our kids (16,11).

Rumbaba Charters is a great one in St. Thomas...Capt Bobby and Karen take around 6-8 people out for a day of snorkeling. They feed you constantly and cook lunch for you...grilled mahi mahi, steak, or hot dogs. You will have the main course, a salad, pasta salad and dessert. Of course you also get all the drinks you want. This has been the best excursion for us in St. Thomas so far. Here's a link: http://www.rumbabacharters.com/index.htm

We rented motorcycles at a place near the dock and cruised all over the eastern end of the island hitting the various beaches. Magen's(sp?) Bay beach was great.

At the time it was rated by National Geographic as one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world. We spent a lot of time there snorkeling...

This was my favorite excursion in the Caribbean - we plan to do it again in March. Rumbaba holds no more than 6 passengers, so there's lot of room to spread out. The snorkelling is awesome, too.

In St. Maarten we did the America's Cup race and it was great fun. We may do that again, or we may just head for a massage somewhere.

Have made the mistake of snorkeling twice at St. Maarten - once at Pinel Island and the other time off the coast and somewhat in an inlet on the southwestern part of the island. WORST snorkeling of my life both times - can't believe we made that mistake twice! Claire

This one fits the bill perfectly for you! In St Maarten, the Lord Sheffield Tall Ship Adventure. Check it out at http://www.stmaarten-shoretrips.com/lordsheffield/piratecruise.html

We did this tour and it was great!

Check out Lord Sheffield. They have a web site: lordsheffield dot com. what a great time

Another ARRGHH!! for the Lord Sheffield's Pirate Day Cruise. We had enough people in our group who wanted to do it that we actually chartered it for ourselves! Plenty to eat and drink. They have snorkle equipment and pool noodles, and while they don't have a plank to walk, you CAN jump off the bowsprit (very front of the ship) while it's anchored in the cove (and ride on it on the journeys to and from the cove)!

We did it last week while on Adventure of the Seas...... best excursion we did!! Wendy was the best!!! Only problem is that the trip is normally 4 hours but when a RCCL boat is in port they have a morning trip (9-12) and then a open trip from 12:30 to 3:30....... 12:30 trip only costs $63 per person including food, drink, snorkling equipment. We did the 12:30 trip.... was half full (13)... St Maarten is a great place!!!

We booked ATV's through shoretrips and had a wonderful time. I think there are 10 bikes. The ride was very easy and saw lots of great stuff. We even stopped at Orient beach to play for an hour near the end. Some wished there was more off roading, but everyone agreed it was a great time. Transportation to/from was included. Ages in our group was from 45-17.

I would book this again!!

Where did you rent your motorcycle? We will there on May 30, 2008 on the Caribbean Princess. We can book through the ship with a tour for $399 per bike. I also found that we can rent through the Harley Davidson dealer on the island for about $150 per bike. Thinking of the latter, but still looking around. Also, how was the riding? Were the roads tough?
