Where should I meet my sister

We are staying at different hotels but plan on spending the day at South Beach on Friday. Rather than her come to my hotel or vice versa...where would be a good place to meet that we coul d both recognize? Neither one of us has ever been to South Beach.

How about in front of the Art Deco Welcome Center on Ocean Drive at 10th Street. There's a big clock right out front.

My vote would be for News Cafe. It is a favorite for the locals and a great place to have a drink and some food outdoors w/ great people watching. Then you just cross the street and you are on the beach. Another great place for people watching.

I agree News Cafe is a good place, if you are going to meet on Ocean Drive. If you would rather do Lincoln Road, then it's sister restaurant, the Van Dyke is a great place to people-watch. Also on Lincoln Road, the Nexxt Cafe.

Neither of us have ever been to Miami...so she'll be nervous if she can't find me right away. It has be easy to find! We'll both be taking taxi's. She is coming from Ho-Jo Airport and I'll be coming from the old Radisons now the Hilton.

 

After that we wanted to go to Bayside for dinner and the live music. Does that all sound feasible?

Why would you want to go to Bayside when there are so many amazing restaurants in South Beach?

The News Cafe is very easy to find. It is on the corner of 8th and Ocean Drive. It is a South Beach landmark that has been there over 20 years. Any cabbie will know exactly where the News Cafe is located.

 

I would just wear a cute/sexy beach coverup like a glittery top and sarong or strappy dress over my bathing suit with little heels and after a day at the beach, head to The Delano for cocktails by the pool. Wear big earings and oversized sunglasses and you'll fit right in.

 

If you don't want to spend as much money on dinner as the above places (at least $100 pp) some less expensive options:

 

Van Dyke Cafe (owned by the News Cafe people on Lincoln Road Mall)

Lario's (Gloria Estafan's Cuban joint)

Davids (real Cuban, you'll see locals)

Puerto Saga (real Cuban, you'll see locals)

Jerry's Deli

 

You really will not want to leave South Beach.
