Giantfan13 Posted June 1, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2004 Hi We are looking to do a cruise to the Western Carribean in mid to late August. I was really curious as to how the weather is then. Is it very hot, dry, moist etc. We are really not 'heat' type people, so would it be much better to wait for winter months. this is the best time for us, but we heard you people are the ones to tell us the real truth. Thanks for all the help.
pcur Posted June 2, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2004 The Western Carib in August will be HOT and HUMID. It will be in the mid to high 80's with high humidity. Grand Cayman today is 90, feels like 102, and has 66% humidity. Cozumel in August is around 90. Go to weather.com and type in the name of the ports you're visiting, then click on the averages. You'll see the temps for August for all of them. Peggy - RCI since 1973
LilyB Posted June 8, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2004 Hurricane season seems to be worse in August. Something else to think about.
LindaKE Posted June 8, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2004 Hurricane season is June 1 - November 30. The peak is late August - early October. But hurricanes are unpredictable. The ship will go around one. August is hot and humid, but there is a slight breeze near the water, so it is not as bad as hot and humid in Alabama.
