Harrahs Casino and RCCL

I go to Vegas a couple times a year and am signed up for Harrahs Total Rewards program. Not a big gambler but get enough offers so the room and much of the food is free (usually stay at Ballys).

This past week I receieved an email survey. After going through it they said they were considering co-partnering the Total Reward program with a Cruise Line program.

Others have mentioned that there is a comp program on Celebrity that Harrahs is running.

Anyone else heard any noise about this? Very interesting from our perspective since we do spend a lot of money between the two places but spend a lot more on room/food (proportiantly) on cruises and more on gambling in Vegas (better odds and better shows).

Going to Vegas next weekend but really don't expect to learn more.

I am also a TRs member and I know that you can get cruises with RC through them but your talking about 1,000,000 or so points. It would be nice if you could pick up points for your gambling on the ship and maybe make some purchases at the stores with points. I have often said the cruise lines could take some lessons from the land based casinos.

I'm just hoping they might actually be thinking of revamping their loyalty program - which pretty much stinks. The rewards leave a lot to be desired and your status really does not reflect how much you spent.

Total Rewards is two tiered. First they reward you on how much you gambled. Those points expire each calendar year (sort of like Airline elite statuses). You need to requalify.

They also reward you on what you spend (it includes points from the first tier) but those points carry over as long as you have activity each year. Again, very similiar to frequent flyer miles (even if you are not that frequent).

Last year we did two 14 night cruises in a Royal Suite and our reward is wine blending parties and discounts off laundry? And its pretty much the same as five 4 night cruises in an interior stateroom. Yahoo.

George and Marybeth:

There are also things that you get from Harrahs program that don't involve using the points, etc. In the last year, I have received docking stations for IPOD, two HD tvs and a digital camera without using my points. I wouldn't expect the cruise lines to give these things out but having a big corporation like Harrahs tie in with Royal Caribbean would seem to develop customers on both ends.
