neverthought Posted March 7, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2008 Sorry if this has been discussed, did a manual search and found nothing, used the search link, but that is down. So what side of the train do you sit on to get the best view both going up and coming back? Thanks, Neverthought

Putterdude Posted March 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2008 What they do at the summit is have you flip the seats over so they are facing what was the back of the train, which is now the front of the train and have you trade seats with the people on the other side of the car. Works like a darn!

Cruisin Rick Posted March 9, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 9, 2008 On the car I was on, my seat was at the rear of the car ( best view side) and there was no seat across the isle to trade places with on the return trip. Look for that seat. ;)
Shoobee2 Posted March 10, 2008 #6 Share Posted March 10, 2008 I rode the train last Summer (for the 3rd time) and the views from the left side are the best on the way up. If you sit near the back, you can go outside and stand on a "balcony" (don't know what it is called in Railroad terms...) and get great pictures. We didn't flip our seats the last 2 times, although that's what we did on the first one. Instead, there was a big loop and we stayed in the same seat and so were on the other side going back down. Budget Queen Posted March 10, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 10, 2008 Also, if you sit across from the bathroom, there is no one to "switch" with, so you have the scenic viewing the entire trip. :)
Putterdude Posted March 11, 2008 #8 Share Posted March 11, 2008 Also, if you sit across from the bathroom, there is no one to "switch" with, so you have the scenic viewing the entire trip. :) Except that you are going to be on the oposite side of the car to the view either going up or coming down, you can't have it both ways, the restroom doesn't move. Not on any White Pass RR I've been on. And the train car doesn't "move" either. They switch engines NOT the cars. Bringing the engine around to the opposite end of the train. The seat backs switch directions, by folding them forward/backward. You have the same side view in BOTH directions.
