3kidsncats Posted March 12, 2008 #6 Share Posted March 12, 2008 The Mexican Riviera (Eastern Pacific Ocean) starts two weeks earlier, and ends at the same time. Although, the weather patterns seem to make it less of an issue overall, than in the Caribbean.
thepeacha Posted March 12, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 12, 2008 that the cruise ship is a multi- million dollar investment and the lives of crew and passengers are of course priceless... no captain sails into the path of a storm! If you can be flexible on your itinerary and accept the fact that you might have a port change (which is ALWAYS a possiblity, hurricane season or no, lol!), cruising can be an amazing value during peak hurricane season. We find that Sept/ Oct is the most vulnerable time here, and the least pleasant. Less tropical breezes, hotter and most humid... unless of course there is quite too much wind! Be aware that the islands may seem much hotter than the early months of the year and plan accordingly. Mohter Nature folows her own counsel however so hurricane season follows a long span of time, June/ July/ August/ September/ October/ November... we can find bad storms striking us anytime in this span. Hope this helps- happy crusing!

traveling1969 Posted March 12, 2008 #9 Share Posted March 12, 2008 We've sailed several times during hurricane season. Nothing but low prices and sunny skies.
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted March 12, 2008 #10 Share Posted March 12, 2008 Be aware that Mother Nature holds "official" hurricane season dates in contempt and can issue forth with tropical storms and tropical depressions before June first and hurricanes right up to December 31st. But be comforted in the fact that the cruiselines will try at all costs to avoid dangerous weather conditions.
