Iphone or Blackjack?

We're leaving in tommorrow, can anyone tell me the newest info for iphone? I;ve heard that you're charged everytime it updates (every 3 minutes). I'm thinking about switching back to my blackjack to avoid fees but I'll miss the iphone

Inside the menus of the IPhone there is a way to turn off the data and update functions of the phone. You will then not be checking for updates all the time.

When I sailed with my Iphone, I kept it in airplane mode the entire week and I didn't get hit with any charges. I could still use all the non-phone features this way.

You can put it into airplane mode and turn off data roaming capabilities via the "setting" button (I think data roaming is under "general" but I always forget). I took my iPhone to the Caribbean and was only charged for phone calls I made while in a foreign port or retrieving voicemails.

thanks, I shut everything off and I;m going to test it tonight. I'm curious if anyone has made any iphone mistakes lately and left it on during the cruise and got the bill later??
