4everafter Posted April 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2008 We're leaving in tommorrow, can anyone tell me the newest info for iphone? I;ve heard that you're charged everytime it updates (every 3 minutes). I'm thinking about switching back to my blackjack to avoid fees but I'll miss the iphone

concour Posted April 2, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 2, 2008 Inside the menus of the IPhone there is a way to turn off the data and update functions of the phone. You will then not be checking for updates all the time.
jelbnl Posted April 2, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 2, 2008 When I sailed with my Iphone, I kept it in airplane mode the entire week and I didn't get hit with any charges. I could still use all the non-phone features this way.
critterchick Posted April 2, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 2, 2008 You can put it into airplane mode and turn off data roaming capabilities via the "setting" button (I think data roaming is under "general" but I always forget). I took my iPhone to the Caribbean and was only charged for phone calls I made while in a foreign port or retrieving voicemails.
