How's Enchantment?

Recommended Posts

I've been planning on taking my kids on a cruise this summer for the last couple months but just got around to making plans. We had planned on doing a Freedom or Mariner 7 day Eastern again, but with everybody's crazy schedules all we can fit in this time is a 5 day on Enchantment.

My wife and I went on Freedom shortly before our divorce last year and we've really gotten used longer cruises on brand new ships. How does Enchantment stack up? I got two balcony cabins, one for my girlfriend and I and another two cabins down the hall for my 21 year old son and 18 year old daughter.

So what are yalls opinions on Enchantment of the Seas?

Just got back from the Enchantment. I would say that you can tell that the ship is not brand new any more, but still really nice. The only parts of the ship that smell bad are the bathroom in the room and the Crown Royal bar. I suggest that you bring a room spray for the bathroom and tell your daughters to take a shower in the spa. The spa has a great shower with steam and a chair to sit on to shave.

We sailed the Enchantment this past November. I thought the ship was great, I didn't see any signs of wear and tear. I did not notice any bad smells in the bathroom, however our 2 adjoining cabins were in the "newer" stretched section, so you may want to look into that to see where your cabins are located, if you wanted the newer cabins. My kids are younger than yours, they missed the promenade, basketball court, ice rink, etc. We had a great time, it is a beautiful ship and I am glad we went. Having said that, we probably won't be sailing on anything less than voyager class. That's just our preference.

I am sure you will have a great time, it's a cruise after all!

My wife and I had never brought the children with us on a cruise until Christmas week 2007. We also did Enchantment 5 day, booked three rooms for 6 of us.

Adjoining room for my wife and I and 2 younger kids, a room about 10 rooms down the hall for 22 year old daughter and 20 year old son.

We had a great time, and now they still can not stop talking about it, looking at pictures and begging to go back. It took about 2 days for them to get used to the ship, but then they were fine.

We did a family tour of Mayan Ruins in Beleze, and in Cozemel, we told the older two they could go their own way, which they chose the jungle ATV tour.

My 20 year old was disappointed the drinking age is 21 on board, but was happy the gambling age was 18. Of course, the casino is tight, so he didn't waste much time there. At the end of the week, all 6 of us did hit the final Bingo, where he won twice, for a total of $2200. That was the highlight.

One thing you may want to look into, I read on these boards in the past few days that RCCL (new policy) was requiring unmarried children under 25 to be directly accross the hall from parents. They did not require that of us in December 2007, but may be newly enforced rule.

Thats how I am. My favorite class by far is Voyager class, Radiance was a little small but we liked it and Freedom class was a little big but we liked it. On the other hand, we had an awesome short getaway on Sovereign last year, we just went into it knowing it was not going to be the same vacation as a ten thousand dollar 7 nighter.

I called RCI and made the reservations with one of their planners since we got two cabins and the reservation went through fine with them in a cabin a few doors down. Hope we dont have a problem.

We have yet to try the Freedom Class so I can't say it's too big. My kids are dying to go on one of the ships in that class. We have a cruise booked for Independence this November, so I will let you know how it goes. The only thing I am waiting for is next year school calendar to see if that week works. Keeping my fingers crossed.
