Cruise with lots of sea days

We just did a back-to-back on the Carnival Miracle (3/31 to 4/15) out of Port Everglades, Florida. When the Miracle sails out of Port Everglades, they do an 8-day cruise to the Southern Caribbean and alternate with an 8-day cruise to the Western Caribbean. Each week had 4 sea days which we absolutely loved! So during our 16-day cruise, we had 8 sea days. Right now, the Miracle is sailing out of New York, but will return to Port Everglades in the fall. Hope this helps.:)

When you take a back-to-back do you have to get off the ship at debarkation and then go through the line again at embarkation? Can you get your same room?

Allgeeteredup,

In answer to your question about how debarkation is handled when doing a back-to-back cruise--On the Miracle, there were about 17 people doing the back-to-back. They told us we could stay in the cabin until 10 a.m. We left all of our belongings in the cabin. We had talked to our cabin steward, and he knew we would be on the cruise for another 8 days. They then asked us to meet in the atrium area of the ship. By that time, most of the other guests were off of the ship. One of the officers collected our Sail and Sign cards and gave us new ones for the following week. He then escorted the group off the ship into the customs area. We walked by the customs officer, but no one asked us any questions. We were then escorted back onto the ship. We had booked our same cabin for both weeks, so we didn't change cabins. They did ask all of us to stay out of the cabin area until about 1:30, but we were able to roam the rest of the ship with no problem. The process took about 10 minutes. Very easy.

In the past, on back-to-back cruises, we have changed ships--from one Carnival ship to another, and from Carnival to RCL. I prefer doing a back-to-back on the same ship in the same cabin. :)

3 sea days is about the most you will find on average for a 7 day. Now like the 8 day out of NYC you get 4. Sometimes it would be nice to have a 5 day to nowhere just to chill out!

cruiselines don't like sea days (especially now) because it means they spend more on fuel.

Try a repositioning cruise - my parents did a 12 day cruise from Vancouver to Honolulu - they had 5 sea days and then 7 days cruising the Hawaiian islands on the Carnival Spirit several years ago.

Do you get your cards from the first cruise back? I like to keep mine!

Valor eastern also has 3 port and 3 sea days. And you leave Nassau at 2, so you have to be back on the ship at 1:30. Also the 8 day cruises to Panama, Costa Rica, and Belize (Freedom and Miracle) as well as the 8 day cruise to St Martin, St Kitts, and St Lucia (Miracle). Or, you could do what I'm doing...4 day and 5 day Inspiration back to back. 9 days on the ship - 3 ports days!

Chigirlcruizin--yes, on our back-to-back they gave us back the Sail and Sign cards from the previous week. The officer collected all our cards and punched us all out from the first cruise at one time. They returned the old ones to us along with our new Sail & Sign cards. I also save mine.

I love sea days.. That is one reason I like Carnival better than RCI. Carnival almost always has sea days or more sea days. If you really love sea days try a QM2 transatlantic (or any transatlantic).... Or go to Hawaii, Look into repo voyages or world cruise segments. Repositioning usually are the better deals...
