cruiserbryce Posted September 30, 2008 #176 Share Posted September 30, 2008 I have never seen a ship docked stern in at that dock in Skagway. I thought they always docked bow in we docked that way when we were on Rhapsody a couple weeks ago
red1der1 Posted September 30, 2008 #177 Share Posted September 30, 2008 ½ sec. Long exposures can be fun. Here's one on the Inside Passage taken at 13 sec. - f/4 - ISO200 (Bright glare is the moon.) Here's a handheld ½ sec. shot of the jogging track on the Mercury just before sunrise. Photography is fun! Dave At risk of becoming tedious...another promenade photo: Sort of... Dave Photo from the QM2, I think it was leaving St Vincent at the time, it was from our 2005 Xmas cruise. :) I've find the QM2 such a great Cruise Liner (ship) to photo. Andrew ;) OK, I just got a new camera and would love to know how to do something like this on it. I have yet to play with all the manual settings to figure it all out. Anyone have any general tips to do this???? Is it just the shutter speed or is there more to it??

Pretty much shutter speed + hold it really still!;) Check out the low light photography class on this forum. It may help with steadiness tips and explain some exposure mysteries: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=824433 Here's a direct link to the class intro doc: http://www.pptphoto.com/ArticlePages/Class3.htm Have fun with the new camera! deeolasingh Posted October 5, 2008 #182 Share Posted October 5, 2008 Nothing extraordinary, but I've always liked the 'golden' hue that the rising sun is giving to the Golden Princess - in Punta Arenas, Chile I Love the Golden she was the first ship I ever sailed on... great shot

websailor Posted December 9, 2008 #187 Share Posted December 9, 2008 What kind of crazy sculpture is this? LOL, they are extra propeller blades...probably a good precaution as this NCL ship, the Norwegian Sun, is about to embark on an Alaska trip. websailor Posted December 9, 2008 #188 Share Posted December 9, 2008 First cruise of the year to Alaska - you have to be prepared for rain! And rain it did! This is just a fun photo I took so we'd remember how much rain we got on this trip. We were glad we brought our full rain suits, other folks hadn't so Ketchikan merchants made a small fortune selling rain clothes.

TheRoff Posted December 12, 2008 #190 Share Posted December 12, 2008 Nice picture Dave. Thought that I would add one from the other side of those rocks. Well attended sail-away party on the top decks of the Oceana. The QM2 had just pulled out from the spot occupied by Ocean Village in your photo.
