Rare itsanita Posted May 11, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2008 We were planning on staying in Sidney for the night, as we will be taking the ferrry to Anacortes the next morning (September 13th). But now that the summer/fall schedule is out, and we learned that the one ferry leaving Sidney is rather late at 11:15 am, we are now thinking about using our "hotel points" and staying in a hotel in downtown Victoria and driving to Sidney in the am. We probably would enjoy being downtown during the evening vs in Sidney. These are our choices. We would appriciate any opinions as to which ones are in the best location, nice rooms etc. Thanks for all your continuing help! Coast Harbourside Hotel & Victoria Laurel Point Inn Queen Victoria Hotel & Suites Best Western Carlton Plaza Hotel Executive House Hotel If you're booking, don't get confused, the Carlton Plaza and the Victoria Plaza are different hotels (the Victoria Plaza is the one with a strip bar if that's what you're looking for). I would add Abigail's , the Marriot Inner Harbour, and Swans to the list of potential places to stay. Of the bunch, the Coast Harbourside and the Laurel Point are a fair walk to downtown although possibly the nicest. The Queen Victoria is right at Beacon Hill Park, and the Carlton Plaza and Executive House are right downtown.
Putterdude Posted May 12, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2008 I am also a big fan of the Magnolia which is a boutique hotel downtown and the newish Grand Pacific. http://www.magnoliahotel.com/index.html www.hotelgrandpacific.com
Rare itsanita Posted May 12, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted May 12, 2008 thanks but we have to stay at one of the above hotels...our "points" are only good at the ones we listed. the Laural Point...when you say its a "fair walk" what does that mean. More than 15 minute walk?
porsena Posted May 12, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 12, 2008 Fifteen minutes would do it.
Putterdude Posted May 12, 2008 #6 Share Posted May 12, 2008 I agree, easy fifteen minutes walk and both the Laurel Pt. and the Coast Harbourside are good hotels with great locations. If you got tired of walking your cab fare from downtown will be less than $10. I have also stayed at the Executive House and it is just fine but you will likely forgo the views at the above two. More than 15 minute walk? In order of niceness; Laurel Point Inn and Coast Harbourside Hotel & Victoria are a cut above the other three. However, they're also the furthest from downtown (a nice 15 min walk)

RickT Posted May 27, 2008 #9 Share Posted May 27, 2008 You should also look at the Fairmont Empress http://www.fairmont.com/Empress/ Best hotel in Victoria IMHO.
