Free Drinks In The Casino????

Still no bed toppers. :(

On the Spirit they were giving out coupon booklets when you signed up for CAS cards. One was for a $20 slot card when you paid $10. Also, one for free spin for free cruise. No we didn't win. Also deals for other games but we didn't use them.

I've signed up ahead of time and still had to sign up once we got on the ship. No big deal and they are pretty fast at printing out the cards.

One problem I had with the CAS and room key card was the magnetic strips. Can't tell you how many I went through. Pocketbook had some magnetic closures and they also could not be put together. A lot of people were having trouble with the key cards when they went out on excursions and brought cell phones. One day hubby had trouble with his card and the desk checked it and said it was fine. Neither of ours worked the next day and when we were boarding the ship security took them both so we had no choice but to go to the desk and get new ones. Then hubby realized that he needed his soda card sticker and had to get a copy of the receipt from the desk and go to a bar to get it replaced. Next time I think I will bring along a couple of those paper sleeves that go over my debit and library cards.

1st time i signed up online, the cards were waiting at the casino. the 2nd time (each cruise/each ship you need to sign up again) they didn't have the notice of the application and i had to fill out the paperwork, again.

so...yes, you can sign up online, but whether it makes it to the ship is a different story.

We just bring our card from the cruise before and they run it through the computer, update the points and off we go with the same card;)

i had my old cards with me, for the last cruise in dec. they wouldn't do that...had to fill out the app. we got the lecture that all the ships were different, our card from the star wasn't good on the spirit.

Were you able to transfer your points? They are supposed to be good for 18 months, so I was curious how this works if you have to get a new card? Thanks:)

i asked him and he said he linked it to our other cruise.

we cashed out all our points....had -0- balance on both of our cards.

before the last cruise, we emailed CAS to have to transfer our cards to the spirit. their email said the cards don't transfer between ships. maybe they got a new computer system since last december?

If you have them transfer old points to your new card, make sure to do it early in your cruise, as it can take a few days to get the points transfered. On our last cruise on the Pearl, we had NOT booked thru CAS (we got a better deal with the now defunct Family Plan). I called CAS prior to the sailing, to make sure that our cards were waiting in the room (as a CAS guest) with our drink cards. When they weren't there upon arrival, I went to the casino desk to inquire. It took almost two days for the Sun and Pearl casinos to make the transfers and, most importantly, to get our "free drink" cards lol. They were apologetic about the delay, but it was fine in the end. Don't wait for the last couple of days to get your old points.

Sorry if this has been asked before - can you sign up for the CAS cards in advance of your cruise? And if you have to do it when on board you just go to the casino, right?

"CAS CARD" Deb says eh? What everyone does not know is Deb is talking about a card that gives one a complimentary "C"onk or "A"balone "S"oup!

Deb just loves it! We even rented scooters to find some in the Turks!

Just kiddin Deb! (Inside joke people)

Everyone get to know Deb and Mike! They are a great couple we met on a previous cruise.:p

Sorry for snooping on your thread Deb!

Everyone have a great cruise! It's coming up soon!:)

Later mates! Scott (Scott and Cathie / two nutty Canadians):D

Ooops, just noticed this is a general question/info. thread and not Deb's roll call thread!

Hope you get it Deb! Don't know how to move it to your roll call thread:confused:

Ok.. I'm going to give my take on this free drinks thing. To be honest.. it got on my nerves. We were VIP's of the casino, actual guest of the casino. Have always been given free drinks. For us that is a diet coke.. a coffee.. etc.. we are not drinkers. I begrudge no one a free drink and I am glad that the casino's on NCL have started giving free drinks to their customers. (just off the Star and as far as I could tell if the casino was open and you were using your card you got free drinks... no set ours like I have read some ships have).

Here is my complaint. To get your free drink you have to pull your card out of the machine and they have to write down your name and number on their little pad. They take that to a casino boss and get it approved. This may seem so petty to most people.. but it bugged the poo out of me. I do not want to sit there at the machine I'm playing and have to pause my play while they have my card. While they have my card, I am not accumulating points. That may seem like no big deal to most people, however to give you an example, we got $700.00 off of our onboard bill due to the points we accumulated. When you are playing a $5.00 slot machine and are betting $5.00 or $10.00 a pop, the points add up quickly. What bugs me about it all is they have to do that EVERY time.. and we even had little extra tags on our cards that showed we were VIPs and guest of the casino. I just think there should be a better way to go about this. Most of you who know me realize I am pretty laid back with most things and try to go with the flow. This is just one of those little things that got on my nerves. Not enough to loose sleep over.. but just kept bothering me. It got to the point I would sit there for hours without ordering a diet soda or a bottle of water because it was the same routine every time.

I can hear the bashing coming at me now about saying all of this because it is such a small thing. Not a huge deal to me really.. just one of those little things I wish they would find a better way to implement.

No bashing -- that would "bug the poo" out of me, too!

For a free drink on the Dawn, I pulled the card out of the machine and held it up to the server. He wrote down the number and I put the card back the in machine. done.

This didn't bother me because it only took a moment and my card was back in the machine in less than 5 seconds.

Maybe the casino managers should talk to each other.;)

solution: have them make you 2 cards...you might have to tell them you misplaced the 1st one....then you have 1 card in your pocket to give to the bar server and 1 in the machine.

we keep 2 cards (each) even at the local casinos, if one of us gets called for a drawing...we can leave one card in the machne until we get back.

We just returned from the Jewel, and if you had a Player's Card (just sign up for one at the cashier), free house drinks were available at all times when you were playing. I just played the slots, and since my limit is $5 a night on the 2cent machines, I am certainly not a big spender - I received free drinks throughout the cruise.

On a few recent cruises they did want to write down the number, or our name, it seemed to vary. But, they never took the card to anyone. That seems pretty stupid.

Here is a way around their STUPIDITY. Go to the counter, tell them you lost your card and get another one. Yep, you have to carry two of them, but it solves this silly problem.

It really is stupid on their part. No way should you drop hundreds of bucks, and not get VIP service.

OOPS - while I was replying, Toyz said the same thing. Two cards.

Another note - we always tip the server and they do seem to remember us and not always ask. Not sure which ship this was, but somebody new must have had their head up their _$$.

I'm the one that feels stupid.. Why didn't I think to do that when it was happening?? OH well.. LOL.. Live and learn.

Wow, free drinks in the Casino....news to me. Was on the Dawn in March and was never once offered a drink (and we were in the Casino every night and had a Player's Card). In fact, while sitting at the bar playing a poker machine, I asked the bartender if I could get a coffee. When he gave it to me, he said they usually charge for it but he'd let it go. That really annoys me that I wasn't made aware of this  . Had a good trip anyway.

Hey Barb.. Don't think that they were slighting you.. This has just become affective on NCL ships across the fleet. In fact, I am still not 100% for sure they are doing it totally on all ships at all times. It wasn't in place when we were on the NCL Star last November, but it was in place on the NCL Star when we were aboard her last week.

Before I claimed that i had "lost" my card, I would want to make sure that it doesn't become invalid when I make that claim.

You can always just say you want another card just to be able to play two slot machines at once. That is why I feel like such a fool about this because last November they saw me playing two machines at wonce and they brought me another card without even asking me if I wanted another.

they don't change our number (or anything) if you say you lost your card, it's not not losing your ship's sign/sail card. to do anything with the casino card, at the cashier, you have to show your sign/sail so they can check your photo/i.d.

i was kidding about said to tell them: you lost your card. i have had people refuse to give me more then 1 card at a time....then i do say that i lost one and need another. we have that problem with one of the ladies at our local casino, she just won't give us 2 cards when we ask and gives us a bad time unless we tell her we lost it.

No bashing here Terry, I completely understand! I haven't been on any of the "free drinks" cruises, but have always been a casino guest with the "hanging tag". What a PAIN if I will have to pull out my card for every drink order! They used to just ask my name until they got to know me, but it looks like those days are over. It's gonna bug me too!
