rocknrobin Posted May 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 29, 2008 Hi - Just wondering: how many formal nights on a 20 day cruise? I know it's 7 long months away, but starting to plan and buy! Thanks in advance...

Thanks in advance... Rule of thumb for HAL is usually two formal nights per week. There are almost always three formal nights on a ten day cruise so I would expect six on a twenty day cruise..... IF there still are formal nights 7 long months from now. Some think they may be coming to an end.

Frankly, I don't care if the next person want to wear jeans. On formal nights, girlfriend loves to go glam!! I have my heels, dress and hair fixed!! I love HAL for the fact the majority of the people do attempt to dress up. I recall on the Westerdam that there was a couple sailing with their son. On formal nights, he was dress in a tux. He was about 4 or 5 years old, but was so cute!! If I had my way, every night would be a formal night!! Happy sailing!!
RevNeal Posted May 29, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 29, 2008 I guess that mean on my 14 day cruise to look forward to 4 to 5 formal nights. On 14 day cruises it tends to be 3 or 4 formal nights, depending upon the number and placement of port days.

sail7seas Posted May 29, 2008 #7 Share Posted May 29, 2008 Our fourteen day cruises have always had 4 formal nights. I'd be fine with three though.
Krazy Kruizers Posted May 29, 2008 #8 Share Posted May 29, 2008 The November 2009 Noordam is really 2 ten day cruises as they can be booked separetly. So you will have 3 formal nights each of the cruises -- thus 6 for the 20 days.
Krazy Kruizers Posted May 29, 2008 #9 Share Posted May 29, 2008 On all of the 14 day cruises that we have done - most recently veendam in March we had 4 formal nights.
airlink diva Posted May 29, 2008 #10 Share Posted May 29, 2008 I know that this is a little off the subject, but do anyone know the estimated cost for a thermal spa pass on a 14 day cruise? I e-mail HAL services, but got no reply back.
njcruiser2007 Posted May 30, 2008 #11 Share Posted May 30, 2008 We are going on a 21 day European Cruise and our documents say that there will be 4 formal nights. It sounds like they are cutting back on the number of nights already.
LoyHAL Posted May 30, 2008 #12 Share Posted May 30, 2008 Gee, I hope they keep those formal nights! I've got a brand-new gown, just waiting and waiting for our next cruise! LoyHAL
rocknrobin Posted May 30, 2008 Author #13 Share Posted May 30, 2008 Thanks everybody - I was figuring 6, but wasn't sure. I, too, enjoy "glamming it up" and I hope HAL doesn't drop the formal nights. It's not that I particularly care how other passengers are attired, it's just that I don't want to feel out of place - like Astor's pet pony - if everyone else is casual.
