Kayaking in Skagway!

My family is going RCCL out of Vancover in August. We have three girls (15,13,10). I have seen a tour through the ship which involves the White Pass train and then a kayak trip down. I have not seen any independent operators offer this trip and wonder if it would be available and worth it. All the sight-seeing trips sound great but I am afraid the girls may get a little bored. What are the best things to do in Juneau and Skagway with teens? Also, can we rent any bikes independently in Icy Straight Point?

Kayaking "down"???? There is no way to do this. It will be lake kayaking, then the tour operator shuttling you back to Skagway in a bus. This is a ship contracted tour only.

Are you familiar with this as an option? ALso, the bike trip/train ride sounds great but I am afraid of the vertical drop for my 10 year old. ANy thoughts? (and thanks a million!)
