Summergee Posted June 7, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2008 According to the Cunard website, the tour excursions in New York are for QE2 passengers only. Could anyone who has been there recently on a B2B confirm this for me? Thanks
hansol1966 Posted June 7, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2008 hello Summergee, have a great time on your b2b. When we got near New York (on the QM2) there were city tours available including a bit of sightseeing and free time....We got off early 7.45am (to taxis)(self help) and explored New York ourself..(maceys). Dont worry there are plenty of options and tours. Myself if you have been here before do self help and explore yourself.. If not go on the tours you.ll be okay. Beyondships Posted June 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2008 If you decide to explore on your own, it is simple to get into Manhattan from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal even though there is no public transportation. There is a line of taxis waiting outside of the terminal. (Depending upon when you leave the ship there might also be a queue for the taxis). The trick is returning. Many New York taxi drivers have no idea where there Brooklyn terminal is. Therefore, print out and bring a set of the directions with you, which you can read to the driver. Toffeegirl68 Posted June 9, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2008 We walked!!!!! Over the Brooklyn Bridge (took an hour to get over the bridge) and then down to Battery Park.... took the subway / walked back. But then we are mad (and many of you that I met did think that we were crackers!) Shopping / major sight-seeing was not on our itinerary. We wouldn't do the walk again (just because how long it took) - we'd catch the local bus to get to the subway. We use public transport all over the place......
