RCI wine list 2008

The 15% gratuity is additional to the prices indicated on critterchick list.

The Wine and Dine Pkg prices only have the gratuity included when bought online. When you buy them onboard the price advertised is without the gratuity but ends up the same as the online price once the gratuity is added on.

I agree and this has historically been their policy. Matter of fact, the markup at the high end is less than most restaurants' markup. I'd rather splurge on a good bottle at those prices. That Jordan Cab on the reserve list is barely a 2X markup.

Exactly....on the higher end wines, the markups are fair compared to most restaurants.

Hi is it OK to bump an older thread ?

Does anyone know how often the wine lists change? Yearly? When ?

Has anyone an updated list of wines al a carte like Jean ( Critterchick ) did ?''

Thanks

Greg

My faves in the whites are the Cakebread and Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnays, which are marked up about 1.5x and 2x retail. The Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio is nice, too, with a markup of about 2.5 retail (anything over 3x gets my blood pressure up).

I love the Rosemount GSM, which Trader Joe's used to carry for $9.99, but no longer has.:( I've seen it online for up to $30/bottle, so $49 isn't an outrageous markup, either. I like the Malbec, Caremenere and Barbera d'Alba, too.

I used to drink a couple of Pinot Noirs that dropped off the list, so I'm still experimenting with those. The Caymus Cab is wonderful, but more than I'm normally willing to pay. I would love to hit it big in the casino so I could try the Penfolds Shiraz or the Barolo, but otherwise I will only dream of them.

Hi Jean - We love the Caymus cab too. We were on the Mariner for NYE and looked forward to a glass at Vintages. Much to our disappointment they didn't have any. We're told it's because the wine lists are changing mid-January.

We're hoping to have a glass on the Radiance Feb. 1. :)

I'm not sure how often the wine list changes but do know it's changing this month. Hopefully Jean will post the new list after her upcoming cruise.

FYI - if you purchase the wine package while the ship is in port (in California) you will pay tax on it in addition to the gratuity. We waited to purchase ours in the dining room last week on the Mariner and were surprised to see a tax on the receipt. Somehow the computers hadn't been adjusted.............even thought we were definitely "at sea".
