mypleasure Posted June 17, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2008 Assuming that when we board the ship that the rooms will not be accessible at that time do we have to lug our carry ons around with us until they are or is there somewhere they can be kept securely until we can access the room. VoyageVirgin Posted June 17, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2008 Lug away. Sometimes the cabin stewards will allow you to put the carry on in the cabin - but usually you have to drag it behind you until 2:00 when the cabins are done.
garycarla Posted June 17, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2008 Some people drag them around. Some just scoot into the room and stick it in the closet. If you board and go to eat, you will not have to drag it too much. Head to the dining room and have a nice quiet late lunch, even though all the staff will try to send you to the buffet. jp2001 Posted June 18, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2008 Some cabin hallways are completely closed and you can't get to your cabin until 2pm (even only to drop a suitcase) so I guess you will have to lug them around.

mypleasure Posted June 18, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted June 18, 2008 Thanks for the tips. Out carry ons consist of one small backpack which contains my photography equipment plus a small wheeled briefcase which has my laptop and our essentials in it. Our main baggage will be checked as it is nowhere near as valuable. I guess it all just adds to the congestion everywhere... but there is no way I allow those bags to be unattached to my body unless I know they will be 100% safe Thanks again Jean
BonnieVA Posted June 18, 2008 #7 Share Posted June 18, 2008 What do you do w/ your carry-ons when you go to eat in the dining room for lunch? Do you take them to the table w/ you or leave them against a wall somewhere or...?? (Assuming you can't get to your cabin to drop them off.) (Assuming you can't get to your cabin to drop them off.) we've done both....some ships have a corner of the dining room where everyone leaves their carryons while they eat. at the buffets, you just take it to your table. we try hard not to carry more than one item each! chrisbd1 Posted June 19, 2008 #9 Share Posted June 19, 2008 Our last cruise was the first time we boarded before the cabins were ready. We headed to the dining room, leaning our bags against the wall near our table, and enjoyed a nice, relaxing lunch. Since we had a table for two, it was right by the window with a convenient wall there :) .Before we finished, they announced that the cabin were ready. Our suitcases were waiting for us in the cabin. cruizinwithkids Posted June 19, 2008 #10 Share Posted June 19, 2008 I was just thinking:rolleyes: . If 2.0 is going to include an escort to your stateroom, does that mean rooms will be ready earlier or the escort will only be for those arriving after rooms are all set, which is generally around 2:00? lambs2 Posted June 19, 2008 #12 Share Posted June 19, 2008 :) I was just thinking:rolleyes: . If 2.0 is going to include an escort to your stateroom, does that mean rooms will be ready earlier or the escort will only be for those arriving after rooms are all set, which is generally around 2:00? On our Celebrity cruise last year they met us with a glass of bubbly, and then a crew member excorted us to our cabin, where we could put down our carry-ons, and then go down to get a bite to eat. Perhaps it is something like that now with 2.0 on NCL??? I hope so..that was such a nice way to start our cruise!!:)
