airports other than LAX for San Pedro peir?

Burbank would be the other possibility...it's about the same distance from the pier as John Wayne...and it's even smaller...You do have to go through the heart of Los Angeles between there and the pier...

I would generally recommend it if one were doing a pre- or post-cruise visit to Hollywood, Universal, or other nearby areas ...or staying in a hotel that way...even staying on the West Side (Santa Monica/Beverly Hills et al)...It's way closer to those areas than is John Wayne--though LAX is much closer than any...

Consider John Wayne if either you are going to Disney/Anaheim or Newport Beach for a pre- or post-cruise...

If you are just going to the ship, LAX is only 20 miles from San Pedro (LGB is about 15) and LAX has the best selection of flights and times...besides, John Wayne, Burbank and especially Ontario will cost you more in shuttle or taxi and take far more time...

Bruin Steve's distances are accurate (61 miles to ONT by the way). In LA we tend to think in terms of time, not distance because of traffic. Depending on time of day, SNA can be faster to get to than LAX and is usually faster than BUR.

Sometimes there is no fare difference between SNA and LAX, at other times there's quite a premium. Although all the major airlines fly to SNA the number of daily departures is capped so demand outstrips supply. WN has a lot of flights and this fall it looks like either WestJet or Airtran will get the "slots" vacated by Aloha. (Air Canada is first in line but is lukewarm on the idea, Hawaiian Air is second but has already stated non-interest).

A lot of your decision will be made for you when you check to see which flights are available from your local airport.

We are using Long Beach this time, because Jet Blue flies there from here for a good price. Otherwise, it would have been LAX by default!

I've flown into John Wayne too, and prefer that over all the other options for going to DisneyLand from here or Vegas.

Looking forward to seeing the Long Beach airport in October!

Good Luck!
