Hi all, we are booked on the Crown October 5th, 2008 this is our first Princess cruise. I am interested in the chefs table, can anyone tell me how much it costs and is it worth it. I would also like to see any menus from the Crown. Thanks again...MO:)

MO, It is sooooo worth it. It is $75 per person.

Here's our menu from the Emerald in April.

And my thoughts as posted previously:

It is an incredible experience.

The food the service, everything. We attended the first one of the cruise. Ten of us met at the IC and were given in lab coats, we were escorted by Maitre'd Generoso Mazzone through DaVinci to the galley, we were instructed to scrub our hands and then enjoyed 4 courses of appetizers accompanied by Moet and Chandon (in the galley). And that's just the start. The Head Chef Michele Cozzoli describing each course as we go along. We were escorted back out to the Piazza where we turn in our lab coats and brought to a table at Michangelo set with beautiful flowers. Next is the pasta course, lobster risotto paired with a Sauvignon Blanc, is followed by the most incredible sorbet - Bloody Mary (drowning in Grey Goose), then the main course spiked and flambe' trio of beef (beef, veal and pork) accompanied by 5 fabulous sauces and Murrieta's Well wine. The cheese course was next, which I found too potent and then the dessert....oh, chocolate fallen cake with a raspberry center and the whole thing was on a "sugar plate" , wine paired as well. Absolutely to die for! We had great table mates and the evening flew by. The women were presented with a long stemmed red rose, each couple was given the Courses cookbook, signed by Michele and Generoso and the photographer was there to record the moment. Generoso presented us with our photograph later in the cruise.

It was a wonderful evening indeed.

My wife and I were just on the Crown the end of April 08. We had the pleasure of doing the chefs table. The cost was $75.00 each and absolutely worth every single penny! If you are really interested make sure you make reservations as soon as you board. The Crown only does it on two evenings and when we sailed each evening was limited to 10 people.

I think the chefs table sounds very impressive but a little high priced. I have not decided if we are going to book it yet. Are you going to? We are going with a group of 10 people, this is our first Princess Cruise we have all sailed before just not on Princess. Have you been to the Roll Call Board there are a bunch of people that are also on the same cruise. All sound like a fun group we will be having a meet and mingle if you care to join us. MO:)

Hi, I will be boarding the Crown right after you, 10/12/08, and hope to do the Chef's Table. It sounds wonderful and well worth the price. Can anyone tell me if there were any singles in your group or only couples? My DH is not going on this cruise and I will be solo. I know they limit to 10 so I'm not certain they will allow a single person to make reservations. Any thoughts?

We did the Chef's Table on the Crown Princess New Year's cruise. It was more than worth the $75 pp! The wine pairings and champagne were all top shelf. The food and ambiance was fantastic. I highly recommend doing this. We phoned reservations from our cabin as soon as we boarded ship. We made sure we were one of the first people aboard for the very reason we really wanted to do the Chef's Table. Reservations took our name and cabin numbers. We were somewhat scrutinized (asked about fussy eaters, allergies, illnesses etc.) and were informed two days after boarding that we were invited to join the Chef's Table. It was a lot of fun and I would do it again.

I did this as a solo diner (DS was NOT interested!) on our 5/26 Caribbean Princess cruise -- no problems at all.

Thank you Cynthia, I feel much better now. I was really afraid they might not book singles. I appreciate you posting. Thanks again.

Is it totally dumb to do the Chef's Table if you do not drink? My wife loves to cook and loves the galley tours. Would it be unacceptable to not do the wine tasting???? I do not care about "paying for something I am not using", just do not want to look dumb.

Not at all, we are not wine drinkers at all and there are many that did not want to sample all the different foods either.

Feel free to consume what you are comfortable with.

The Maitre'D and the Executive Chef will appreciate whatever your tastes are. ;)

I did the Chef's Table on Caribbean Princess last month and it was great. The tour of the galley was conducted by the Executive Chef (Antonio Cereda) and the Maitre d' Hotel (Angelo Balbiani) who are both very interesting and quite amusing. Then, the chef went off and prepared a series of special appetizers leaving us in the care of the Maitre d' and a waiter with bottles of good French bubbly. After that it was out to the Coral dining room where we had an excellent meal. It was a real highlight of the voyage.

My spouse and I have cruised Carnival, Holland America, and Princess. We've done the Chefs Table only on Carnival (and it was fantastic!). Are the differences between cruise lines substantial enough to justify the expense? We're on the Crown this December, looking forward to it!

Thanks for your opinions.

Wouldn't think that it would be that much different.
