Best 5* Hotels in Monte Carlo & Venice........

Recommended Posts

I will be cruising on the Voyager from MC to Venice in 09. What 5* hotels do you recommend for a few nights before/after the cruise in MC and Venice. I am looking at Hotel de Paris in MC and Luna Baglioni in Venice. Thanks.

We stayed at The Hotel Hermitage two years ago. It is a sister property to the Hotel de Paris. It was quite lovely. However, we had a better time staying in Nice in November at less than half the price at La Perouse where you could easily walk to the Flower Market and several bakeries and cafes. And in Venice, The Westin Regina and Europa were very nice. You could not go wrong either at The Hotel Daneli.

I stayed at the Hotel de Paris in MC. One of those 1 night, I want to experience this place, impulses. Got a great price through AMX, half of Regent's asking price. I hated the room they put me in at first, so asked to be moved and got a lovely room with A/C. This was one of the problems with 1st room - non AC room. I'm glad I did it, but if I had to stay in MC again, I would probably go with The Hotel Hermitage that Cathy mentioned in the post above. I heard great things about it from everyone that stayed there & the location is fine.

Just to stay that we, also, stayed at Hotel la Perouse in Nice. Absolutely loved it. (Some rooms are quite small. Get best room with best view and I think you'll be wowed.)

Luna Baglioni in Venice

Luna Baglioni is a wonderful boutique hotel with the best location, just a block from St Marks. They don't have 24 hours room service, only one restaurant, no bar, etc. Service was very, very friendly. Highly recommended.

The Bauer, gets very good reviews, too. I visited the Bauer for dinner, and it was the wonderful. Very few outdoors restaurants right on the grand canal, the Bauer's had excellent food, excellent wine list, and the best service, with singing gondoliers passing by. Only in Venice.:)

I wonder if the small hotel de la Fava is still in existence. Gianni Reneir. Maybe not. That was back in the mid 1960s.

The Luna Baglioni was the place we stayed last year. It's fine. Nothing too fancy but the location is good.

If you stay in MC, the Fairmont is absolutely beautiful and a great location. We had a garden view room, but the sea view rooms have a wonderful view of the Med and coastline. Great rooftop bar/restaurant, and a very nice lobby bar. Rooms very spacious.

Can't help in Venice, but the Westin Regina and Europa looks very nice and we would certainly research that one out if we were to be staying in Venice.

In Venice look into the San Clemente Palace. It is not located on the main island, so requires a short ride on their private tenders from Piazza San Marco. But once you are there it is a beautiful, luxurious haven from the chaos of Venice. There is a pool, gardens, exquisite public spaces and gorgeous rooms. They also have a club right in the Piazza San Marco to stop by and refresh yourself (and leave packages if you have been shopping) if you don't want to go back to the hotel between sightseeing jaunts.
