Lynda S Posted October 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2004 Someone on a thread in here somewhere mentioned that there was a restrictive smoking policy, can anyone tell me what it is? We have 2 smokers in our group going next year and I should probably pre-warn them.
jfb128 Posted October 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2004 There are two places that one may smoke on the ship. One is in a corner of the pool deck and the other is in a corner of Horizon's lounge. I believe cigar smoking is prohibited but someone else can comment. raffeer Posted October 18, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 18, 2004 They should also be warned that smoking in the cabins and balconies is not permitted. Beatrice
Windrunner I Posted October 18, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 18, 2004 Not only is it not permitted, it is absolutely FORBIDDEN to smoke anywhere other than the two designated smoking areas; the pool deck and Horizons lounge. You might want to actually read Oceania's brochure or website.
eaoneil Posted October 31, 2004 #5 Share Posted October 31, 2004 Insignia has a wonderful smoking policy. Just having come back from a 2 wk Adriatic cruise, it was so terrific to be able to pick a lounge chair on the pool level and relax without having someone light up in your vicinity and force you to move. This policy has never been in place on any other ship I have been on. The smoking passengers were considerate and restricted their smoking to the designated areas, which could easily be avoided. Thank you Oceania and considerate smokers for making a wonderful cruise also wonderful on sea days.
BullinOhio Posted November 6, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 6, 2004 A non-smoking casino on a cruise is hard to imagine. They must not expect much revenue from their casino. When I have "the big bet" riding, I gotta light up. I would love to take an Oceania cruise, but their smoking policy seems a little too restrictive. I totally understand other passengers that do not want to be around smoke and try to be as considerate as possible on cruises and on land (I very rarely smoke indoors). However, Oceania will not get my business unless they open up the casino to smokers. And... I am sure there are many of you that are glad Oceania will not get my business. Oh well. There is something for everyone I guess. Happy cruising!
