southbayer Posted July 17, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2008 This pertains to things carnival used to do way back when.... here goes Remember when Carnival used to leave your sign and sail cards in your stateroom waiting for you, with your name(s) already printed on them. I can think of several other things they used to do, but let's see if you can guess them. A hint, these go back at least 8-10 years back. Have fun:D

firefly333 Posted July 17, 2008 #7 Share Posted July 17, 2008 Complimentary birthday and anniversary cakes in dining room delivered with a song. Free cruise to Freeport in fact within one week of your birthday plus free speciality dinner, but you did pay the port charge. (Of course it was only $99, or often buy one get one free at $99, including port charges). You could go there very early in the morning and were home by midnight. You had to have ALL your teeth to board. Skeet shooting. Real glass souvenier glasses Yeah! I remember those male nightgown contests from my first two cruises! They were funny. They also had a knobby knees contest which was good, too! The wives had to figure out which knees belonged to their husbands! You would think that was an easy task but it wasn't! Too funny! Donna n Francis Posted July 17, 2008 #19 Share Posted July 17, 2008 .....I remember them having the pillow fights on the greased pole on the Lido Deck....and didn't they also have a Toga Party the last night on the cruise. I have videos (VHS...LOL) of these...I will have to dig them out because I am taking my DGS on his 1st cruise next April. Also for some strange reason my DH would always get called up on the stage by the CD Eddie Capone do any of you remember him....Eddie Capone wanted anyone that was in the military to raise their hand...my DH raised his and before he knew it he was on the stage playing a game of 'mexican musical hats'...my DH and one other fellow was the last two...what was so funny was that they were laughing like a couple of hynenas (sp) ....their prize was the 52 piece game set. This is on one of the videos. We went on a couple of more cruise with Eddie Capone being the CD. Does anyone know if he is still around? The last I heard was that he had a comedy club in Ft Lauderdale.
Pegs222 Posted July 17, 2008 #20 Share Posted July 17, 2008 Remember when they use to have seven courses at dinner, and then the midnight buffet and the mini buffet after that. I think in total they had seven meals/buffets every day.
shortstop95 Posted July 17, 2008 #21 Share Posted July 17, 2008 wow.. did this bring back memories.... real glasses...not plastic.... programs for the production numbers given out at dinner on formal nights.... drawings of the ships on the last night... three waitstaff assigned to your table.. (waiter, asst waiter and busboy).... baked alaska aflame on the tops of the head of dancing waiters (not flourscent wigs) skeet shooting off the aft deck....free rum swizzles on the first night in the casino's....hand-written slips for drinks... not computer generated....some corners have been cut over the years, yes.... but I think the services and ammenities they've added far outway what we've lost....
