navigator vs voyager/mariner

Hello all

My hubby and I want to book another cruise. We have sailed on both voyager and mariner and loved both, however, both ships seem to have limited sailings in the caribbean and focus mostly on longer sailings.

The navigator sails alot in the caribbean next spring, which would be about the time we want to do another cruise. We aren't sure if we would like the smaller size of navigator, even though we did not take advantage of the four restaurants on voyager and mariner, at least we know they are there.

Any thoughts about navigator from those who have sailed on voyager or mariner?

thanks!

We have 36 days on the Navigator, 28 on the Voyager and trying the Mariner, Aug 20. We really enjoy the Navigator, it is smaller, does vibrate in the aft, avoid catagory F if it would bother you. The crew and staff are great. You get to know a few if you wish. We did a 10 day Caribbean and a 26 day round trip, Los Angles-Tahita on Navigator. It was far and away our best cruise even though we did not find the South Pacific to our liking.

We continue to sail with other lines but if you can find a Regent that fits your schedule go for it.

We have sailed on the Mariner, the Voyager and the Navigator. For me , the Navigator is a smaller, more intimate version of the Voyager. I have found that the Compass Rose and the Verandah are more than adequate. I think you would thoroughly enjoy the caribbean on board the Navigator.

We have sailed on all three and absolutely love the Navigator. The intimacy cannot be matched! Having said that, my favorite ship is the Voyager -- my DH prefers the Navigator. We were on the Navigator for a Western Caribbean cruise and will do the Eastern Caribbean on the Navigator in February, 2009. Really looking forward to it!;)

I went as a solo on Navigator in December and met a lot of people. This was a Caribbean cruse, and it was a lot of fun. The main dining room was always delicious, and we had a good time at Portofinos, and they fixed something vegetarian for another girl and I that did not want the set menu.

The lounges were fun, and the production shows were entertaining. I liked the casino, too, and the cabin was about as nice as Voyager. I did like all the dining choices on Voyager and liked that ship better since there was some vibration on Navigator, but it was a great cruise, and I would sail the ship again on the right itinerary. The ship has a following of people that absolutely love it.

Standard cabins on Navigator are lovely, and I believe a bit bigger than Voyager.

The ship is wonderfully intimate. I really loved it. The positioning of the Navigator Lounge on deck six is very pleasant during the day. La Palette is a very nice place for breakfast and lunch, and I now hear that they are re-inventing it as an alternative dining option for dinner. The main dining room is a bit noisy, I don't see why they could not get the acoustics better in these places, but it's not worse than Voyager I think.

All that being said, I prefer Voyager. Not sure why, it just feels good to me. I'm about to book another 14 nights on her.

I would stick with Voyager or Mariner. We only had one cruise on Navigator and it, along with our cruise on PG, were our least favorite. The cruise on Navigator was a New Years cruise thru the southern and western Caribbean. To me, the Navigator Lounge is dark and dingy and Portofino was not nearly as nice as La Veranda on the other two ships. We had a mid-ships deck 6 stateroom (629 ) and while we had no vibration, the walls and ceiling sqeaked all the time. The staterooms are basically the same as the standard Voyager staterooms. That being said, things may have changed, since many of the Diamond crew are now on board.

Wow Doug, we were in 631, just next door. Yes, we had some heavy weather in the eastern Caribbean on Navigator and the room squeaked. But so did our Voyager room when we had heavy weather off the coat of Portugal (651 I think.) Then again, we were on Voyager again about 6 months ago in 655 and there wasn't much noise (but quiet weather too.)
