lateuk Posted August 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2008 Hello, With all the nice food available i really need to do some excercise whilst onboard, do any of the pools have lane swimming at certain times? Thanks
Mocorobabe Posted August 1, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 1, 2008 Sorry, I think your out of luck in the swimming area, but they do have a great gym with all kinds of equipment. Mocorobabe
Boo Boo Posted August 1, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 1, 2008 Hi If you want to swim, then it needs to be early or late (when no-one around). Before 9.30am at the adult pool is normally good for a few lengths. BUT I wouldn't recommend it for exercise as such - the pools are so small: it is about five strokes a length! Quite enjoyable (when no-one is about), but not very serious... ;) Boo
cb at sea Posted August 1, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 1, 2008 There really are no "lanes"--these are small pools, suitable for getting wet--that's about it!
crusinmama06 Posted August 1, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 1, 2008 Well the above responses aren't 100% correct. ;) I have in my compass from Freedom each morning "Lap Swimming from 6am - 10am, Sports Pool" So if Freedom can do it, then Indy certainly can. :) My only question is, I know the solarium is heated on Indy, is the Sports pool heated as well? I don't know how warm the climate is and how fast that pool would heat up. This is the pool reserved for lap swimming in the am. Not very big but it must be ok if they actually schedule "lap swimming"...lol.
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted August 1, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 1, 2008 Thanks for asking the question. Lap swimming is my main form of exercise and I was wondering how to pose the question myself :D I'm an early riser so the times will suit...... yayyyy

CAT GIRL Posted August 1, 2008 #9 Share Posted August 1, 2008 For a serious swimmer I think you'll be disappointed. Just a few stokes and you're at the other side. You'd have to do about 100 laps to get a quarter mile in and then you'd probably be dizzy if you do flip turns. Now, I have seen those flow machines where you stay in place and swim but haven't seen them on RCCL yet. I actually prefer a cold pool when I swim laps. Just noticed on the description of activities on offer via the fitness centre : Aquamotion The aqua program features a water workout that both challenges and supports the body. As long as I'm doing SOMETHING to offset the massive calorific input that I'm hoping to be experiencing.....

I really hope that is what I was referring to because the pool really isn't going to cut it for the serious lap swimmer. What ship are you going on?
