Mozart527 Posted August 26, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2008 Yep. This is hitting the internet like wildfire this morning. Exciting news to say the least. Assuming that Disney gets the permits to sail Glacier Bay, don't take that to mean that they will every year. They can always resell those permits if it doesn't fit into their plans. ducklite Posted August 26, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2008 I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I highly suspected that DCL would send one of its ships to Alaska for three months a year after the two new ships were delivered. It just makes sense for a large number of reasons. I might be pretty easily swayed to change my 9/09 Caribbean reservation to a 2010 Alaskan itinerary. :)
awoltoday Posted August 26, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 26, 2008 I can't believe this is just now getting discussed AND that I didn't read my Seatrade insider to see the news on 8/22...
Lollipop's Mom Posted August 27, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 27, 2008 I hope it leaves from Vancouver! We are 45 mins away and it would be a nice airfare savings! Seattle would be ok too - but would love Vancouver!
NancyIL Posted August 28, 2008 #7 Share Posted August 28, 2008 That is pretty exciting. I would love to cruise to Alaska, but my husband is not a fan of snow. The only snow on the ground during the summer should be in the mountains. It CAN be chilly, however, especially on glacier-viewing days. I think Alaska is a great place to visit during the summer, because it's a nice change from the hot weather at home. He is into palm trees while on a cruise, not snowcapped mountains (like me, sadly). I think I can get him to Hawaii though!;)
