Hey everyone

For those of you that have booked your hotel thru Priceline can you tell me if it's already been charged to your credit card? or if you will still need it to go thru once we check in and for those of you that will be staying at a resort like us Marriott Stellaris that charges a resort fee. Can you opt out of it? Has any done this?

Since our flight doesn't get in till 5pm Saturday we won't be using the facilities at all so to pay for something we won't be using seems like a waste of $$$ I could be spending on drinks :D

Any advise?

You pay for the hotel as soon as you book it. We stayed at the Caribe Hilton last November and didn't have to pay any resort fees.

You still must give them a credit card when checking in. Last Nov, no extra fees at the Caribe Hilton. This past January 2008 however, there were fees of about $15-20/night extra. They just told us at checkout that these fees were new and not included in the priceline "pre-payment". When we stayed at the Marriott in Jan 2007, I believe we had a $10 resort fee that was extra. No luck for us having these fees removed, but it doesn't hurt to try I guess.

Once your bid is accepted on Priceline, the total including taxes is charged to your credit card and is non0refundable. I believe (will verify in November) the "resort" fee is charged upon check-out at hotels with Casinos. I don't gamble, but will still have to pay the fee.

Bon Voyage

Sounds like thievery to me. Why should we pay a fee beyond the cost of the room? That should be stated on Priceline if that's the case. Obviously the prices charged on resorts are naturally higher than a straight hotel anyway, in most cases. I will surely attempt to resist being charged this fee.

I have stayed many times in San Juan in the past 6-8 years. I have used priceline and Hotwire (as well as booking direct). I have stayed at the Caribe Hilton probably 5 or more times. This past January was the first time they slapped on all the extra fees. I just checked my records and the extra fees (on top of the taxes and service charge already charged when I paid through Priceline), were $75 additional for 3 nights! They stated it as $15/night resort fee, and $10/night "occupancy tax". I "discussed" this at length with them and got no where. :( On my Priceline stay, I had already paid $96 taxes for the 3 nights.!

Good luck at your attempt to not be charged!

  • 2 weeks later...

This also happened to me at the Caribe Hilton in February, 08. I booked with Priceline, I thought in full. They took a credit card when we checked in .l the bill given to us at check out indicated that we were paid in full, but a few days later a $26 fee was added from Caribe Hilton I DID call and email about this.l The answer I got was brief and said it was added tax per night that was not included through Priceline.l I did not try to argue it
