rarescrambler Posted September 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2008 I saw this in the story on Hurricane Ike's ravage of Grand Turk on the CC home page: When the cruise ships return to Grand Turk, Carnival will run volunteer-oriented shore excursions so passengers and crewmembers can help with the rebuilding efforts around the island. Has anyone heard anything about HAL doing something similar? I would absolutely LOVE to be a part of this rebuilding effort when we stop there late in October. Thanks for any information or guidance as to where to look for this - my next stop w/b to look at the Grand Turk Port of Call thread.
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2008 Haven't heard of HAL doing anything like this. The only thing I know -- the first ship to call at Grand Turk is a Carnival ship on Oct 8.
Moriah Posted September 13, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 13, 2008 We are scheduled for Grand Turk during our Dec. 6 Eurodam cruise. I would take part in a volunteer rebuilding "excursion" - ! Sounds like a great idea!
catl331 Posted September 13, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 13, 2008 HAL will probably do so also as they are part of Carnival Corp. Carnival Corp. did build the port and pier there. Gr. Britain also is sending help as Grand Turk belongs to them. They are very poor there and I didn't see any large employer.
