firsttimewithcunard Posted September 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2008 Can someone tell me what the metal balconies are like on the QV. We have one (4038) and cannot, apparentlt, be moved. I'm worried that when we sit on the balcony we'll see nothing but the metal wall?
zider Posted September 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2008 You are correct when sitting on this type of balcony a6 cabin you will be looking at a steel bulkhead do try to change to a a5 cabin if seeing the ocean is important to you. avalon1025 Posted September 14, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 14, 2008 Not to worry, I had one of these on QV on deck 4 forward and it was fine. Actually the veranda was about a foot or so larger than the non metal balconies. I have photos if anyone needs them
cooma Posted September 14, 2008 #5 Share Posted September 14, 2008 Thanks Avalon, That would be most kind if you could post a couple of photos to clarify the situation of the wall / balcony. Regards, Howard

cooma Posted September 17, 2008 #8 Share Posted September 17, 2008 Avalon, Thanks and it looks good. I hope the weather on our October/November cruise is such that we can make use of the balcony. Regards, Howard :)
cruiseonly Posted September 18, 2008 #9 Share Posted September 18, 2008 Avalon: Thanks for posting picture of metal balcony. When you look down standing at the railing, can you see anything, or is it obstructed. Thanks.

There's nothing past the railing but water... ...unless you're at the pier. ;)
bobnatt Posted September 21, 2008 #11 Share Posted September 21, 2008 There's nothing past the railing but water......unless you're at the pier. ;) not necessarily. I had a stern cabin on my QV cruise and because the way the cabins are positioned on each deck we looked down at the balcony of the cabin on the deck below. Um - If you'd read the quote and the subject of this thread, you'd see that I was referring specifically to the metal-railed verandahs on Deck 4... ...since that's the only place aboard QV where there are metal-railed verandahs. cooma Posted September 22, 2008 #13 Share Posted September 22, 2008 So Brian what you are saying is that the background of Avalons photo was on the wharf when the boat was tied up. If the photo was taken at sea thats what one would see, the sea. Howard
