muskokacruizerz Posted September 17, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 17, 2008 It has been a few years since our last HAL cruise. Can we charge casino chips and slot coins to our shipboard account, or do we have to bring cash to the casino?
kakalina Posted September 17, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 17, 2008 You bring cash. You can use the cashier in the casino to take out more cash at a 3% service fee.
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 17, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 17, 2008 On our recent Westerdam cruises you could use your ship ID card in the slot machines.

knitlady037 Posted September 17, 2008 #6 Share Posted September 17, 2008 When I used my card in the slots there was no fee. That was on Noordam in March. Don't know if things have changed.

Snook Posted September 17, 2008 #8 Share Posted September 17, 2008 Please folks! Don't use your card!! If you've got a $20 or two, use them. If you use your card you can get carried away an lose track of what you have lost. With cash you can pace yourself.
sail7seas Posted September 17, 2008 #9 Share Posted September 17, 2008 On Maasdam, it is still either coins in the slot or dollars into the machine. The slots on Maasdam do not take ID cards, yet.
Old Salty Dog Posted September 18, 2008 #10 Share Posted September 18, 2008 Just got back from 20 days on the Noordam. Don't know about the chips, but you can use your room card on the slots. You can get from $10 to $100 at time put on your card, with no fee, charged to your account. The balance on the card can be moved from machine to machine. You can control your expenditures by putting cash in the machine, rather than charging to your account, and transferring any balance to the card. The system actually worked rather well, and there was no handling of coins to cash out - just take the card to the cashier when ready.
codyody Posted September 18, 2008 #11 Share Posted September 18, 2008 As Scooby Doo would say, rutt-roh! I am starting a mantra...I will not use my ID card, even if I can...I will not use my ID card, even if I can...om mani padma om...:)
rich_cathybrock Posted September 18, 2008 #12 Share Posted September 18, 2008 I think I figured out the best of both worlds. I can send my DH (well, really, ME) casino chips from the online gifts form. Same as a "cash advanvce" without the 3% fee - how scary is that? Heck, we don't drink, and he quit smoking (I ain't so strong...) - gotta do something in between ports...
