Noise on Liberty deck 6?

CanWeGoYet?

Recommended Posts

I've been searching some old threads trying to find out more about my cabin, and came upon an old thread posted warning about noise for deck 6. The OP said the noise levels from the casino and disco made sleeping in cabins on this deck impossible before 2AM. Apparently the noise was coming from the deck below. The thread was posted years ago, so I'm hoping Carnival has made some adjustments to minimize the noise inpact on the cabins above.

Any feedback from someone who has booked a cabin on deck 6 of the Liberty recently? I've booked an inside cabin, 6346. From what was posted, the inside cabins were less affected by noise than the balcony. Here is a link to the thread if anyone else is interested. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=229557&highlight=liberty

If you know your cabin #, look carefully at the deck plans. I just went through the same thing on the Destiny, and was worrying myself because I felt that my cabin might be subject to noise. However, when I looked more carefully, I saw that I was OK.

The issue of noise from areas below a cabin is an ongoing issue on many Carnival ships (I assume most cruise ships but have only been on Carnival and this forum). The prevailing opinion is that it is buyer beware. Can you identify exactly what venue your cabin is over?

I'm pretty much in the same postition as you having 4 cabins 6347 thru

6359 booked and paid for. From the start I was not happy with the cabins

our PVP gave us as I told her this is my in laws 50 wedding anniversary

in which I'm bringing 3 couples that have never sailed Carnival before with

us so this needs to be a good experience or I'll look like a fool. Well, after

being assured they would be fine over and over I'm not feeling very good

about where we are right now. We're booked at the military rate which

has gone down for this cruise and I called to try and get us upgraded up

but since we didn't have to pay the fuel surcharge they really didn't

feel the need to move us with out having to now pay the fuel surcharge

which to me is ridiculous. The drop in our cruise rate is $53.00 a person

so I thought they'd do something but not so. I'm feeling very frustrated

and it looks like I'll be calling Carnival again tomorrow.

We were on deck 6 on the Liberty. i'm trying to remember the exact cabin number but it was midship, right near the elevators. I didn't hear anything and I'm a light sleeper. I was very happy with the cabin. Like a PP said, take a look at the deck plans and see what is right above your cabin. Unless you're right under the nightclub, or something else equally loud, you should be ok.

We had 6259 on Liberty and 6324 on Valor - both balconies. 6259 was near the forward elevator and the sound from the show lounge came right up the stairs and into our cabin. Fortunately, it was over around midnight so it didn't interfere with sleeping too much. 6324 is between the forward and midships elevators; we did have some noise from the casino (a couple of times we heard the announcer and a few times we heard cheering when someone hit it big), but nothing constant. The band plays on the opposite side of the casino, which probably cut down on noise as well.

We have been on deck 6 twice on the Liberty. Both times they were aft balcony rooms. I also have read where people have trouble with noise from the lounge below. I have to say that it really didn't bother us at all. A few nights we could faintly hear the band playing, mostly just the bass noise. It was never enough to stop us from falling asleep or wake us up after going to sleep. We had friends in other cabins on level 6, and they all had the same experience.

For us it was not a problem at all.

We have a room booked on the Splendor, level 6, for our next cruise. I am not at all concerned about the noise.

We have booked 6346, it looks to be over the casino - but maybe something has been done about fixing the noise level on this deck. From the posts on the thread I linked, people were complaining not only about noise from the lounge or casino but also the walls of the cabin being paper thin.

I bring earplugs, which help. It looks like I'm over the tables - maybe I'll only hear occasional shouts from winners and not the incessant dinging of the machines in the casino.

I think there was a thread "Cabins to Avoid" under the Ask section of this board.

You might want to check there as well or do a search "Cabins to Avoid".

The search feature on this board isn't working right now, but I was able to google the thread and find it - it's specific to CCL so that helps.

I just called my PVP and had my room assignment changed to deck 7. The noise might not have been an issue, but for so little more ($10 per person total) it's worth having a quieter floor.
