Nobody ever mention Best Western Oceanside. I know it has mixed reviews on Trip Advisor but it is reasonably priced, beside the Sheraton Yankee Clipper which is on the beach. It is I believe quite close to the Sun Trolley , water taxi and has a buffet breakfast. We are going to stay there on Nov 4th for 3 nights. Don`t plan to be in our hotel room very much.

We have airmiles to cover the costs.

Check it out

The Best Western Oceanside is fine. The complimentary breakfast is great and the sun trolley stops in front of hotel. Also the water taxi stop is just up the street as is the Bahia Cabana hotel. The Bahia Cabana has a great outside bar overlooking the marina and is a fun and lively place at night.

I think you need to whittle down your list of priorities:

if a hotel is near/on the beach in FLL it is unlikely to have complimentary breakfast or any (free) shuttles between airport and hotel and hotel and port. (Though I was unaware Best Western Oceanside as mentioned above had free breakfast). Sheraton Yankee Clipper, Bahia Mar, Marriott Courtyard on Seabreeze Blvd and Doubletree Galleria are all near the beach and may meet your $250 price point in January but do not offer free breakfast or shuttles. They are all walkable to restaurants and nightclubs (at Beachplace) which also has a Howl at the Moon (singalong 'rockin' piano bar).

You are asking for the moon. Not going to happen, esp. in January.

First of all, the majority of the hotels that do have what you want, for this time of the year (and other times of the year) are going to be in the 200.00 and up range. So you have to adjust your mindset. It is going to continue to be that way much of the year in Fla due to the economy and it is still a travel bargain esp. from those coming from S.America and Europe.

My advice: look for a clean, comfortable, mom and pop hotel in Hollywood Beach area, cab it to where you need to go or rent a car...or budget your money and spend the money for the fancier hotel that does have these things. If you are staying one or two nights, you only sleep in the room, right, so do you need all the other frills? Spend less on the actual hotel and rent a car or taxi to do the other things.

The Hyatt Place fits most of your items.

Kieth, what can you tell me about the Wyndham vc Santa Barbara in Pompano beach? It will be myself, DH, DS (21), and 85yo mother. the 2 bedroom condo seems like an option instead of 2 rooms. It offers full kitchen and 2 baths. We plan to rent a car for the 2 days pre-cruise. Thanks for any available input!
