KBondNC Posted September 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2008 Does anyone have a recommendation for a Miami hotel (one night pre-cruise)? We don't need anything luxurious as we'll only be there at night and for a few hours in the morning before leaving to board the ship. It would be nice to find one that provides airport and/or cruise terminal transportation if possible. Thank you. Kevin
sarahvch Posted September 28, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2008 you will get more responses if you go to the ports of call boards. I suggest the JW Marriott. It is very nice about $200 a night, free computer and internet in room. Taxi to port is about $
tracy b Posted September 28, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2008 I used hotwire.com last cruise and got a Holiday Inn at the airport - perfectly fine and only $60. Not sure what kind of budget you are on but I wouldn't spend alot of money because you are really not going to be there long.

I don't think there are any hotels that will give you shuttle to the port and from the airport, one or the other can be found. I would suggest you stay at an airport location, they all offer transfers and get a taxi to the port. No, it will not be $10, more like $20 or $25.00. As for the price, when are you cruising? If you are cruising between now and the middle part of Dec do try PriceLine, you will find something under $100 per night. It you are cruising between Dec 20th and Easter be prepared to pay a whole lot more...Good luck. Nita
Bunkie103 Posted September 28, 2008 #5 Share Posted September 28, 2008 We booked Holiday Inn Port of Miami for $150 and had rooms facing the port. It was wonderful for my DD and her two DD because they were first time cruisers. Plenty of places to eat just across the street.
tjosh7 Posted September 29, 2008 #6 Share Posted September 29, 2008 We leave next Monday on the Sky, and will fly in a day early - gonna take a cab from MIA to port - got a GREAT hotel deal via Hotwire - $120 for the Intercontinental - but if you don't want to splurge, an airport hotel may be the best best - then the flat rate for a cab from airport to port is $25 - I think...... AnnapolisCruises Posted September 29, 2008 #7 Share Posted September 29, 2008 We stayed in a Residence Inn at Coconut Grove, lots of nice place's to eat and shops (CVS) for the last minute stuff you might have forgot that you can walk too. We had a limo the day of the cruise to drop us off at the pier.. ENJOY
rnnw62 Posted September 29, 2008 #8 Share Posted September 29, 2008 We're staying at the Laquinta Inn East. Free shuttle to hotel, free shuttle to port and continental breakfast. Many are using a discount code of USTBLE.

Lauderdale the day before the cruise and I was kind of cruise how much a limo would be since I know a cab will be $80.00 to $100.00 at least. We were there back in '06 and it was a good $60.00 from ft. Lauderdale to the pier.
DieHard Posted September 29, 2008 #10 Share Posted September 29, 2008 We are staying at the River Park in downtown Miami. I believe their shuttle to the pier was $6.oo per person. They also offer a good breakfast for $8.50 per person. The location is great and the metro rail is a few steps away. If you book on line the price is $100.57 including taxes. I called direct for a senior rate and got the room for $90.61. Phone number is 1-888-473-4276. The LaQuinta Airport East is a good place to stay for a reasonable price, clean rooms, a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the port. There's not much around it, but you can have dinner delivered.
canary1974 Posted September 30, 2008 #12 Share Posted September 30, 2008 We were in miami in june of this past year. I too was searching for a hotel with airport and port transfers. We had flown into miami. Best Western by the Bay, it has a shuckers restaurant with the hotel. I got on there website and they offer comp. airport pick up and The price of the room with a balcony water view and transportation to port of miami was like around 127.00. To me that was a great deal. We are trying something new on our next cruise though because we are flying into FLL. :)

eandj Posted October 1, 2008 #14 Share Posted October 1, 2008 How far was this from the port? HI Port of Miami is just a 10 min cab ride, tops. You can't walk there because you need to get over a bridge with heavy traffic. It's only $10-12 by cab.

Many have transportation to their hotels from MIA. Some have shuttles to the port. You didn't say when you were cruising. The prices rise from Xmas thru Easter break. THe quotes you read for fall cruising are much lower than peak season.

How did you know it was Intercontinental? Is there a way to figure it out before you book, or do they give you the name afterwards? BTW, IC is our favorite Miami precruise hotel. If you haven't stayed there before, you're going to love it! I was just there a couple of weeks ago and it was wonderful as usual.
Nanatravel Posted October 1, 2008 #17 Share Posted October 1, 2008 Jerseygirl, there is a method to "try" to find out what hotel it is that you would get on Hotwire. Go to Packages: key in dates for a 2 night stay including the night you need plus from your local airport (even though you won't need air), fill in the rest of the boxes. When the choices come up with hotel names, look for a 4star or better and the Intercontinental. Now go back to the home page: Hotel - put in your date for your one night hotel pre-stay (if that's all you need), fill in the rest of the boxes - enter. Now look for a 4 star or same star category and all of the same icons you noted. Not to easy to explain online, but it does work. I just got the El San Juan Resort & Casino (on 2 different occasions) for a decent price. Good luck. Nanatravel
Nyna Posted October 1, 2008 #18 Share Posted October 1, 2008 The Holiday Inn on Poinciana Blvd also offers complimentary shuttle to both airport and seaport. The price can be either hit or miss. I've seen it as low as $90, or as high as $250.

I've seen it as low as $90, or as high as $250. That Holiday Inn is great... I used to stay there all the time when I lived in Raleigh and went through Miami quite frequently. It's not fabulous but it's certainly convenient... and it offers port shuttles, too. If anyone can tell me how to get that one on Hotwire or Priceline I'd be really grateful... I've never tried to use either service! Jana
