Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted October 10, 2008 #154 Share Posted October 10, 2008 Hey... at under $25 a share all that one has to do is take 25 7-day sailings and you have recouped your entire investment. Granted, you have to spend a helluva lot of dough (NOT cookie dough ALEX :)) to sail 25 times, but even if CCL goes to $0.00 (before your 25th sailing) you are golden - well "even" at least... :D Tom

Kristi Williamson Posted October 10, 2008 #157 Share Posted October 10, 2008 It may have hit bottom there Pretty close! It hit 24.09 and now it's back to 25.43. We'll see what happens in the next 2 weeks. If gas goes back up, it'll come back down and possibly may even hit the 22's or 23 mark. :o
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted October 10, 2008 #158 Share Posted October 10, 2008 wow - I head up to the store to grab a late lunch - got back and decided to pull the trigger and add 100 CCL back into our portfolio... it was not $24.xx any more. I thought WHAT THE HECK - picked up 100 at $26.19. $27.57 at this moment. Even if I have to hold that for a few months/years, it's bound to make something in the LONG RUN. Plus, that shareholders credit will be utilized a few times as well... Tom

CCL was around the low 50s for a long while. As long as the ships are full (easy to check here) and oil is low it will bounce back.

DG2004 Posted October 10, 2008 #161 Share Posted October 10, 2008 Even if you could buy with a CC I would never recommend it. Going into debt to buy stock, especially in this market, is not a good idea. exactly margin is a really bad idea for 98% of people
vakayaker Posted October 10, 2008 #162 Share Posted October 10, 2008 RCL has decided not to combine stock credit with next cruise credit. I bought a next cruise on Conquest a few weeks back, would like to know if it can be combined with stock OBC, now that the issue has come up with RCL. Anyone know if the OBC is combinable? May not pay to buy stock for the OBC any more, now that Carnival is starting up the program to other ships to sell next cruise credits. Good question... your PVP should have the answer for you. Closed at $28.94 so just from the time I bought to close it increased in value $350. But I ain't selling. Just will sit back and use OBC, and wait for dividends. neatokimmo Posted October 11, 2008 #167 Share Posted October 11, 2008 Closed at 28.02 with aftermarket trading going $1.50 lower. I'd set it to sell then buy it back..but that's just me :) $30 commission is really high, you can use online brokerage accounts for about $10 a trade. Good catch at the 25.50 tho, all day Friday I was like oooooo I wish I could get it now! Bought mine today at $25.50 with about a $30 commission. tha sista Posted October 11, 2008 #168 Share Posted October 11, 2008 When calculating your "gain" don't forget to include income taxes which can be higher or lower depending on how long you hang on to this stock.. You should check with your accountant.

Good catch at the 25.50 tho, all day Friday I was like oooooo I wish I could get it now! Not really worried about the commission. Been with the same broker for over 10 years and he has given me some really good stocks and works more like a Financial Advisor, so the commission is worth it to me. Sometimes you have to pay for quality service. I tend to buy the stocks and hold for years. Particularly like ones that pay dividends. :)

UpstateCruizer Posted October 13, 2008 #175 Share Posted October 13, 2008 Congrats to those who have made recent purchases in CCL. For those that have owned them for awhile how soon after booking do you submit your stock information to Carnival? Is there a specific amount of days prior to sailing I should wait for or will they take care of it if I send it in advance? I don't want to get myself confused with all of the OBC we'll be getting for our next cruise. We have a group OBC for $100 and I will also have an additional $100 OBC from the future sailing certificate. If I send my stock info in now I want to be able to tell which credits have been applied.
