If you want 100 shares of Carnival stock

I read post #152 about who to send the documentation to, but I am curious as to what would be the quickest way to have "proof". Say you purchased 100 shares today;) , what would be the quickest way to have acceptable proof to fax?

:)

We have an account with Ameritrade so I'm not sure how yours is done but ours was easy. Once we made the purchase we had to wait for the trade confirmation to post the information to our account. It took less than 24 hours to get access to our stock certificate. I printed that out and faxed it to Carnival. Time was of the essence for us as we purchased and sailed a week or so later. It was really easy and painless :) Good Luck :)

If you are booked with a group, the fax number to send the proof of stock ownership is different than what is posted on post number 152. The correct fax number for a group booking is 305-406-8654. It is helpful to have the group booking number as well as your individual booking number. I have faxed my stuff twice and twice it hasn't been applied and found this info out today.

Sorry, sort of skimmed through the thread, but here's my Stupid Question of the Day...

does it matter if I purchase the stock within an IRA? They only need to know that you own the stock - in some fashion, correct?

I don't quite have enough cash in my Roth, but can purchase about 80 shares now. Not concerned about my December sailing (as I got an amazingly cheap price on an inside with a PG upgrade), but the next Miracle cruise is pretty steep for my budget. If I can buy 70 shares now, I'll buy the other 30 when I make my 2009 IRA contribution after the first of the year.

It should not matter if its in a Roth. Many have 401K's that hold the stock. My 401K is an employer account and we cannot select an individual stock so mine needed to be an outside account.

From reading the posts it looks like you need ot buy 100 shares to get the OBC. I was wondering how much is the credit and how long do you need to own the stock to get the credit?

I don't own any shares yet - but the price looks good and I am cruising around Thanksgiving - I was wondering if I bought shares would I be able to get the credit?

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks.

I guess this means that if I currently get the inter-line rate, I cannot get the OBC if I own CCL stock - right? I guess I'll call my PVP and just make sure that's the case.

We have never had any problems getting the shareholder's credit applied when we also use the military rate... :)

How sticky is Carnival on how you use the OBC?

The Carnival announcement on the stock ownerships says:

"This benefit is not transferable and cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account.

If I went on a cruise and didn't buy anything or do any shore excursions, do they actually not apply the OBC to the tips?

Thanks

Mark
