Yes, on slots I actually win on every third spin or so. Of course, I lose more than I win on the other two spins :D . I have had one hand pay at $1200 exactly, but usually spend somewhere in the low to mid four figures in a week. I consider it winning though, as my casino perks usually balance my losses pretty well. I find the odds in slots not as good as Vegas, but better than AC. Cards are about the same, unless you are a hole-in-the-wall Vegas player, where the odds are significantly better.

My first cruise was on the Norway in 1986. The first night in the casino I was playing quarter slots on my first roll of quarters, yes, back then you had to put the coin in the machine :). It was one where you put in 1 to 5 quarters with no penalty for playing less than the max. I was putting in sometimes two, somethimes three. A guy remarked to me "you are winning - why not play the max?" I told him I was conserving my cash. He suggested playing partners. Next thing I knew he had scooped up a bunch of our winnings, converted them to dollars and was behind me at the dollar machine re-investing some of our winnings. At the end of the night he handed me a bucket that held $350 in quarters.

After that I never played any machine less than a dollar and I won every night of the 7 day cruise. I paid about $900 for the cruise. After having a wonderful week, buying souvineers, tipping, etc. I left with a $950 profit (above paying for my cruise and all my expenses).

What's funny is that I never saw that guy again the entire cruise. Eerie!!!

Also, the guy sitting next to me on the Carnival Ecstacy won a free cruise in category 12 (the best). I knew him (we were in a group). I joked I should have bought ONE MORE CARD and it would have been mine.

Just got off the Dawn & was up $3000 (including a tax form from the casino staff, arrrrgh).

On our Miracle cruise I was up $3500, but no tax form because the winnings came in increments of less than $1200.

On my 2nd Glory cruise I won $2100 on the last sea day (yes, tax form). On our April Legend cruise I was up $7800, and of course, got the tax form. I play slots exclusively & the denominations I play are anywhere from .25 to $1. I always play the maximum amount of coins per spin. I've also won the slot tournaments on the Glory and the Miracle.

I'm actually luckier at sea than when I've played at Mohegan Sun or in AC. At the Wynn in Las Vegas however, I did very nicely indeed! :D.

Good Luck to you too!

Be sure to visit the casino during the hours when the free "Spin to Win" slot machine is open. Two years ago on the Jewel, I won a free cruise. I was expecting the cheapest interior on deck 4 when I redeemed the voucher, but CAS gave us a nice OV cabin. The only downside was that I wanted to use the free voucher for a Hawaii cruise, but it was only valid for cruises with a casino on the ship. I guess CAS was hoping to win some of it back!

On the Celebrity Zenith in 2004 I won enough to cover the total cost of the cruise. On the Star last January my husband hit 1000 on the video poker machine, and I believe it or not won over 2000 on the bonus spin at the blackjack table.

Where can we find out about the "Spin to Win" slot machine...it sounds exciting:)

The "Spin to Win" slot machine is a large white slot machine that is open for an hour or two each day when the casino is open. The times are listed in the ship's daily paper. You need to have a player's card (sign up for free at the casino desk), although they don't always ask to see it. You get one spin per day. Prizes are free restaurant coupons for the premium restaurants (Cagney's, Le Bistro, etc.) or a free cruise.

It's fun and costs nothing to try, but the odds are pretty long. I was told that I was only the third person on the Jewel to win a cruise. Another time I saw someone win a restaurant coupon, I suspect they are easier to win than a cruise! Basically, they use it as a way to get you into the casino and hope you'll then stay around for a while playing.

Anyone ever win at a casino on the ship?

I've won a little (less than others are posting here!) on the Star and on the Jewel. Enough to have fun! However, I'm totally sucked in - on our last cruise on the Jewel a gentleman a few machines down from me (quarters, 3 at a time) won $18,000. He was remarkably cool...I would have been beside myself.

A free cruise on the Spin to Win would be GREAT, good to hear someone has won it before!

Seems like you might be better off playing some of the slots, certainly better off playing video poker, or best of all craps. In fact every hand is guaranteed money for the house in poker.

My point is that they do not build billion dollar casinos because they are offering games of chance that give the player an advantage. Skilled blackjack players can get close, but that is a real grind. If you search long and hard in Las Vegas you may find a few Double Bonus Poker machines that approach 100% payback with perfect play, but that is it.
