cruizinmimi Posted April 18, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 18, 2004 It's true. They will frown upon you and usually deny you taking a coke out the concierge room. They want you to drink them in their room and it's not any time of the day either. At night. Sorry... Linda

yarlenna Posted April 18, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 18, 2004 At the rate or 1 or two a day, you would be better off with purchasing your cokes by the can. They get 2 1/2 glasses out of a can - and you can surely get at least one glass every afternoon during happy hour. If you take a glass out, bring one back. The concierge doesn't need to be there when you return your glass. You'll only get a can if there aren't many people drinking in the concierge lounge. I just loved the suite experience on RCI. I hope that they straighten out their service staff ratio. I would LOVE to sail with them again. Work like a dog. Live like a pauper. Save all your money. Then Cruise! mbisson Posted April 18, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 18, 2004 I was wondering the same as yarlenna. If only one or two a day, it's probably not worth it to buy the card anyway. -Monte some of my cruising photos: http://community.webshots.com/user/m1bisson A bad day cruising is better than a good day at work. knowla1 Posted April 19, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 19, 2004 I was able to take coke from the lounge, but the concierge had to put it in a glass. I was not permitted to leave the lounge with a can of soda. That said, you would only be able to get the sodas from the lounge when the concierge person is there to pour it for you. They keep the sodas and alcohol locked up when the concierge is not there. You can get free tea and coffee any time however. Todd320 Posted April 19, 2004 #14 Share Posted April 19, 2004 We returned from the Serenade a week ago and the mini bar was no charge for us. This was our first suite (Royal) and from above posts I take it is not included with other suites. We ended up getting the pop cards for the kids anyway but they cleaned out the mini bar everyday anyway. The steward was nice enough to restock twice a day. For those of you who have met Maritza (concierge) from the Serenade you know what a delightful person she is. She asked the first day what type of liquor bottles we would like delivered to the suite. When we were discussing what to tip her my wife said jokingly we should just send her a monthly check. BLUEICE Posted April 19, 2004 #15 Share Posted April 19, 2004 When we went to the lounge, we were permitted to take out any sort of drink as long as we had out own glass. My husband was never without his RCCL thermal mug when we would go into the lounge. On the other hand, he did tell some people that they can't take it out with them. As far as I know, only the royal suite gets free pop and alcohol in their cabin. I think the same goes for any of the bars however, don't quote me on that. I am under the impression that all is free for the royal suite. We met nice people who had that suite on the VOS and he said it was less embarassing for him to go to his cabin and grab his beer there rather than wait for somebody to verify that he was indeed in the royal suite. We bought them a drink in a bar, and he told us that this was the first time anybody has ever bought him a drink. Did he return the favor - no and it was not expected of him. Again, don't hold me to the free stuff for this cabin however, this is what we heard first hand. Hope this info helps. gnfcon Posted April 19, 2004 #16 Share Posted April 19, 2004 We only drink a soda a day, and found it quite easy to buy 2 or 4 (depending on the itinerary for the next day) in port before getting back on the ship, then kept them in the fridge. ruttie Posted April 19, 2004 Author #17 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Thanks guys I am a convienance type person while I do not drink a lot of coke I definelty waste alot... I like it fresh and fizzy so that is why i usually buy the soda card my hubby is constantly going and getting me a coke so I can sip.. (i don;t think I have ever actually finished one though...) It's not that I am against the soda card just was wondering cause like this topic it is a little confusing still as to weather you get coke for free in a suite so far I am getiing it is up to the conceirge. Or take a mug and they will fill it? but a few reports are that they will restock your mini fridge daily with/out charge any one else know if this is true.... I would not buy and bring on thta is just too much trouble for me.. like i said I am into conveinace and hubby is very convient to go get stuff.. And oh yeah as to if we are planning on spendding much time in our suite thats a big fat YEP!!! If i can get away with it I will eat in there!!!! holein1 Posted April 19, 2004 #19 Share Posted April 19, 2004 The Royal Suite is stocked with beer, wine, liquor, sodas and replenished each day (no charge) unless you are a believer in the old adage "there's no such thing as a free lunch". The Concierge Lounge is a facility provided by RCI for guests in Suites and those Diamond members of C&A. NO ONE is allowed to take drink (other than coffee/tea) out of the lounge though there are people who will try and there are Concierge's who will permit it BUT remember such abuse of the facility could eventually mean it being withdrawn. Would be a case of "penny wise pound foolish" and everyone would suffer because of the few. The Concierge Lounge is on all Voyager and Radience Class Ships with RCI. Look after the facility, don't abuse it and we can enjoy it for many years to come. ruttie Posted April 19, 2004 Author #20 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Thanks george so if we do not drink alcohol do you think we could just ask them to stock it with soda?? that is what I was hoping for when we found out that we mighthave this perk with RS.
