UKCruiser_2008 Posted November 16, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2008 I just noticed a post on another thread, where someone was discussing a great upgrade they got for their stateroom allocation. Someone commented that the location is not fixed until you embark. So can Carnival DOWNGRADE you again at the dock? For instance, if you were upgraded from a guarantee 8A to an 8C online, ould they then say at the dock: "oh sorry, change of plan, you are in an 8A cabin" Or will they only give additional upgrades (if they need to)? lvtotrvl1 Posted November 16, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 16, 2008 They can change you at any time...even at the pier...however once you have received your room assignment, it "usually" doesn't get changed...
Wennfred Posted November 16, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 16, 2008 Got my upgrade 61 days out and it changed again 3 days before cruise, so it does happen. Fred
firefly333 Posted November 16, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 16, 2008 The only few times someone was downgraded, the cruiseline gave them a OBC to compensate them. You assignment can change, however, it usually will be as good as what you received or better if it is changed, upgraded.

Fred In response to the OP's question, was the change a downgrade from the upgraded cabin you were first assigned?

No, it was a nice last minute upgrade, check out his thread on the subject.
firefly333 Posted November 16, 2008 #7 Share Posted November 16, 2008 hmm I never thought this may happen but.. we are doing two 7 niters B2B... Its unlikely that if you picked a particular cabin they would upgrade you. You can tell whomever you booked with to put a note on both reservations (which I assume are linked) "do not upgrade".
