kiberkid Posted December 4, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 4, 2008 I know this is a late in posting, but better late than never. I just want to comment on The Tahitian Princess' Customer Service. In Sept we cruised from Honolulu to Tahiti. It was a wonderful cruise. Our excellent customer service experience happened on the day we sailed. Pre cruise we stayed in the Embassy Suites in Honolulu. It was a wonderful hotel. We had the limo pick us up at the hotel @ noon to take us to the ship. Check in was fast & efficient, no line ups. As we were walking to the ship, after check in, my Dad said "where is my back pack" we realized that it had been left at the hotel. When we got on board, I noticed that my parents had "blue" cruise cards instead of gold...so they went to the pursers desk to ask if they could call the hotel to have the back pack sent over in a cab & also to get the ship card changed to the gold card. They talked briefly to the person behind the pursers desk & was directed to the Future Cruise Consultant. She got the cards changed from blue to gold in no time. They then went back to the pursers desk to ask if they could phone the hotel... Well.. lo & behold, their back pack was behind the pursers desk. What happened is my Dad had put a cruise luggage tag on the back pack, so the hotel knew it was supposed to be on the ship, and they called Princess to see if they could get hold of us to meet the taxi that they would send the back pack over in... well we though that was excellent customer service from the hotel, but the Tahitian blew us away. They already had someone in Honolulu doing errands so they contacted him and asked him to swing by the hotel & pick up the back pack to save us the cost of a taxi. We could not believe it. Talk about impressed. My Dad talked about Princess' customer service the whole cruise. Pretty incredible.. I say. Really, it was such a little thing for Princess to do, but it was absolutely huge for us. That basically set the tone of the cruise for us & we probably would still be happy with them if they hit an ice burg around the equator & sunk.. lol... Av8tor Posted December 4, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 4, 2008 I absolutely love to hear stories like that! Most acts such as this are not really that hard to do, but it's amazing how few people are willing to even think about how they can help, much less actually go a bit out of their way to lend a hand. I hope you or your dad filled out a Princes guest comment card recognizing the extra effort the Purser's staff expended for you... Happy Sailing, Paul

Happy Sailing, Paul Oh yes!! My Dad actually almost wrote a book... had to add another piece of paper. He was very impressed & wanted them to know about it. Toto2Kansas Posted December 4, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 4, 2008 What a great CS story, and thanks for passing it along. With so many complaining anymore from morning until night, it is good to hear your experience was exceptional. We have always found when they can help out their passengers, they will do whatever they can to assist. BTW-We have taken that cruise more than once in the past and it is delightful, so happy to hear you enjoyed it. And what a way to start the cruise with such a great experience. ;)

mii Posted December 4, 2008 #9 Share Posted December 4, 2008 I am also going to join the club about a positive thing in regards to Princess. It just seems lately there has been griping and moaning, bashing and complaining that it is a treat to read a good post. Thank you very much for sharing this story. BigGayBob Posted December 4, 2008 #11 Share Posted December 4, 2008 I have a story too: Island Princess RT LA-HI 2006. My sister rented a mobile wheelchair for our 15 day trip. It was one of those enormous ones that is like a small Volkswagen with turn signals and a headlight. Well on day 3 of our crossing the wheelchair just quit running. I mean it would not move. It was dead in the water (actually in the casino). So my sister used 2 canes to get herself of to aft Baja and 2 attendants dragged her chair up to be with her. It took over an hour for the journey from casino to cabin. For her she thought the trip was over. Without the chair she could not go ashore. She could only eat via room service unless her husband and I brought her buffet. She was in tears. The next morning the ship senior engineer officer showed up with 6 little engineer oompa-loompas and picked up her chair and took it to the engine room, only to return with it in BETTER WORKING ORDER than when it was first rented, less than 4 hours later. A solinoid switch had busted and a wire needed replaced. They had used some spare parts from the ship to get it going again. By noon she was scootering herself all around the ship. They gave my sister a miracle and our whole family will be forever greatful for the extra effort it took from so many staff to put my sister back into the driver's seat. Having experienced this, i often tilt my head to complaints that I see on this board. The worst things to happen on a cruise are not speed of the lines in the buffet or the presence of an eggcrate mattress. Much worse can happen and when it happened to us, Princess was there in proud force. --bob
TorontoTL Posted December 4, 2008 #12 Share Posted December 4, 2008 I agree that is very refreshing to hear a positive story about customer service. I have been happy with the customer service that we have received during our cruises with Princess. Glad things worked out well.
choochella Posted December 4, 2008 #13 Share Posted December 4, 2008 Like previously said, it's nice to hear something POSITIVE for a change. I look at it as, "you're on vacation". Why sweat the small stuff?? But, some people just live for that. Too bad for them. I, too, normally just ignore all the bashing.
Woodmnky Posted December 4, 2008 #14 Share Posted December 4, 2008 I want to copy & paste those stories the next time I see a poster complaining about a lack of people bringinig drinks around the pool area. So many people forget that while having a hand delivered drink is nice, being able to leave ones cabin means the whole world to someone else. robgvic Posted December 5, 2008 #23 Share Posted December 5, 2008 How refreshing. Thanks ihave been thinking recently that this site had become complainers anonymous. Princess deserves more of these. Maybe we should just keep this thread and cancel all the rest. And the news just said that happiness is contagious so you have made a lot of people happy
vette Posted December 5, 2008 #24 Share Posted December 5, 2008 The same thing happened to us on the Tahitian Princess. We left our carry-on on the van that delivered us from the airport to the ship (late at night). We only realized it after checking in at the dock and the van was long gone. We mentioned it to one of the officers at check in. He quickly made some phone calls, and told us the van driver was not answering his phone but he would follow up in the a.m. The next morning we checked with the pursers desk and there was our carry-on waiting for us. Thanks Tahitian Princess - you have a wonderful crew!!!! Vette
