Has anyone done a cruise to Nowhere from NYC?

Has anyone done a cruise to Nowhere from NYC? Just wondering where it sails to and do you have to have a passport? I have one but my sister and son don't have one.

The ship pulls out of dock and sail so many miles away to open the casino, but does not "go" anywhere. No passport needed, just picture ID. Great getaway to enjoy the shows and food.

I have been on two overnights once on the Dawn and once on the Spirit.

 

Ship is very crowded but we had a blast - it is a party atmosphere from beginning to end.

But sailing away past the Statue of Liberty and under the V bridge is just as special.

We head down from Albany also. Going to NY next month for a cruise. We usually take the train. Beautiful ride. If you want to take a bus check with Yankee Trails. They have a tour down to NY for cruises.

I forgot about the train, that is also a good idea. Yankee trails wanted $80 per person, I am going to have to check out something I heard about a megabus for cheap. I have been on a few cruises that went under the Verrazano(?) Bridge. It was great to be on the ship while everyone up on the bridge was waving. I really want to do the January 24th sailing but not sure if it will be freezing cold, like today it would be too cold to be up on pool deck for sail away. Have to check into somethings but think it would be a nice getaway for the weekend.

On my first cruise to nowhere in less than 2 weeks! Cool!

Our TA said that if we didn't bring a passport we needed TWO forms of ID--one photo and then birth cert or similar document.

New rule maybe?

We went on the Spirit best value ever, compared to paying for a hotel. Sailing in and out of NYC especially in summer is a great event.

The cruises to nowhere are GREAT especially if you book them early for the good deals or catch a sale like the one recently where the insides were down to $99 pp (plus $) I paid $129 per person for two inside cabins at the time. When the sale came up both cabins were upgraded to Balconies (BA) room which, at the time of the sale, were going for $149 pp...I would have prefered the OBC for the nite but since final payment was already made and even though it'sonly one nite..it'll still be nice for my friends to check out their balcony

 

(I'll be on the Gem's 7 nite NYE and 1/3 1 niter so I'll be able to tell them all about the ship by the time they board and I reboard on 1/24

 

and the BEST part of the 1 niters is that they count towards your upward climb on the Latitudes ladder..yeah hooray....

I offered this one-nighter to my son and his wife but she couldn't commit to it so it's a no go. You could have driven down with them. Of course, you would have had to look at pictures of their two daughters all the way down. Our fare is for seniors and it's $112 total for the both of us round trip. And it only takes 2 hours and 20 minutes. Much more comfortable too.
