timetravellers Posted December 22, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2008 If we manage to get through our cruise without using all our on board credit, what happens to what is left? Is it a case of use it or lose it? Or can we get a refund? Gail
Parsman Posted December 23, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 23, 2008 The straight answer is you lose it. The company will not pay cash for any remaining balance. You must be very lucky for my OBC always disappears like magic!!
Griller Posted December 25, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 25, 2008 Yes you lose it forever. I have heard that on some lines any leftover OBC is credited to the Crew Welfare Fund. However this is is only scuttlebut and in any case would FO do it? Maybe they would, FO always had a reputation for treating the crew well, however I have also heard it said that Fred wouldn't give his granny a discount on a cruise if he thought he could get away without doing it! Who knows? Not me, a longtime FO cruiser now priced out by the high cruise costs on FO and forced to sail Princess - which is surprisingly pleasant but their ships are a little large for my taste. STEPHEN LARKIN Posted December 26, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 26, 2008 Hi , I have to say that I agree with some of the past comments ... my on-board credit seems to disappear like snow off a ditch on a hot day ! You would have to be a non- drinker , that didn`t shop and never left the ship for any paid excursions , to still have OBC left in your account . Dont get me wrong there are a few people out there like that and good luck to them , my belief is if you are like that you should be looking for a better deal , one that includes the money off you holiday , not one giving OBC . ( Just my thoughts , you maybe disagree ) Cheers and happy cruising ...
Robbo123 Posted March 29, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 29, 2009 OBC, nice to have, but disappears very quickly like ice on a very hot day. If anyone is on the Boudicca on the 9th April they can transfer any unused to me if they so wish :)
Kez100 Posted March 30, 2009 #6 Share Posted March 30, 2009 We have a few hundred this time and, even if we didn't drink which we do so the OBC evaporates, we would use it up in the gift shop and take home some fancy gifts or spa products or something. It's great knowing we have the credit - make the cruise seem more 'all inclusive of drinks' for us. I know we have probably paid for it one way or another but we got a good price so it doesn't feel like that.
shecat7 Posted March 30, 2009 #7 Share Posted March 30, 2009 Robbo 123 dont forget to go to the pursers, desk when you get there to make sure it,s on. timetravellers Posted March 30, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted March 30, 2009 If we get our fuel supplement to spend as OBC, we'll have £78 to spend on a 2 night cruise. Think we'll be having champagne with our dinner! Gail

Cruiseroz Posted April 27, 2009 #11 Share Posted April 27, 2009 Cannot believe you expect to have a credit if you do not spend it! Goodness, you are lucky enough to have the credit in the first place. Some people totally amaze me!
