rols Posted December 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2008 I didn't find an answer to this looking through the forum. How does silversea generally deal with changes in published fares for existing bookings? I'm assuming that once you've made full payment, that's it, no benefit from fare changes. But before full payment is made, deposit only perhaps has been sent, if they drop the fares on a cruise, are you entitled to the new fare, or you're still obligated at the original price? We've been looking at cruises leaving soon, but that's not working for us, so we're looking forward to this time next year now and have something in mind but would like to maximize our ability to take advantage of any fare decreases throughout the year. Yes - we want our cake and eat it too!
Rare A Tucson Guy Posted December 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2008 Just a guess, but if you had only paid a deposit, and lower fares can out, just cancel and rebook. This would be if SS will not give a refund or lower fare.
wripro Posted December 27, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2008 The most important thing you can do is book through a good TA. Then if the fares go down even after final payment he/she should be able to get something for you. If not a rebate then perhaps shipboard credit or an upgrade. A good TA.... One that specializes in the luxury cruise market. Host Dan

A bad idea if you want insurance that covers pre-existing conditions. They are all written to cover this with the first and only booking, even if you pay for the insurance at final payment.
