Better weather crossing PACIFIC in January or March?

DH and I are considering a 33 day Holland America RT from San Diego to French Polynesia, via Hawai'i. It is available January 4 and March 8, 2010. We have just returned from our longest cruise to date, the Panama Canal from San Diego to Ft. Lauderdale (16 days). We flew to Hawai'i and cruised from island to island a few years ago. That, plus a Mexican Riveria cruise, is our Pacific Ocean experience.

Does anyone have any advice as to which month is more likely to have a smoother crossing?

Thanks,

Karen

There really is no telling. I have sailed in March and had calm seas one cruise and a little rougher seas the other cruise. And the same goes for January. Most recently we sailed out of Los Angles this past January as part of a world cruise and had great weather as we headed to the Pacific Islands.

I would pick the dates that work best for you.
